Ahmet Ertegun dies

at 83

Ahmet Ertegun dead at 83.

One of the most important behind the scenes persons in western music lately.

(Interestingly enough, a lot of U.S. music as we know it today was defined by three Turkish men - Ertegun brothers and Arif Mardin.)

I thought he was portrayed very sympathetically in the movie “Ray”.

So, another one bites the dust: Be seeing you soon buddy. :)

That’s tough to hear that he is not with us. What stories he could tell… After guys like him are all gone. who is gonna know how music was originally marketed to the listening audience?

Bill…

The good news is that he did tell a lot of those stories - although I’d really like to hear the ones he wouldn’t tell an interviewer… :)
