I am wanting to start recording multiple tracks but I can still only do single track recording? I am hoping that someone can give me an idea or point me in to the right direction to where I can record multiple tracks.

Well, you can record two tracks at a time right now. You need a card with multiple inputs. And then perhaps some preamps or a mixer, and microphones, and… 
what would be a good mixer and sound card be to get. I am open for all sugestions. I was looking at the M-Audio 2496. Is this a good sound card?

Crankz1’s solution is a very good one. If you don’t want to mess with a separate mixer, the Aardvark Q10 will give you 8 mic inputs - good for portability, and you can still use other preamps - it’s what I have - 700 bucks now…
