BPM to MS calculator

BPM - Tempo Calculator

If you’re a tweaker like me and want it ‘right’ for delays - reverb whatever.

Hi Poppa Willis:

That calculator is so nice…
It’ll make your reverbs sound so nice on your mix sessions if you use this thing correctly…

If I remember, there was another one out there somewhere, BUT…
this one looks like it may be easier to use…

Bill…

how do yo apply

Or just use a delay that is beat aware. :D

Oh yea it's all laied out, nice.

I believe, you apply the reverb as a delay by so many msec. to the track you want to delay …
depending on the BPM of the song/track you’re mixing-and-or the amount of pre-delay of the verb effect…
Expirmenting…
will bring-it-on…

Bill…

Cheers, Pop.

:agree:

Seems like a slide rule would be easier

erm, can’t people do mental arithmetic any more?

Or at least, open the calculator that’s included as part of Windows?

Sheesh! It seems these days, we’re expected not only to be PC, but dumb as doorknobs too. :p

Nice one Phoo  Jeez Pop, you must be one mother of a tweaker to be in to that chart. I couldn’t get my head into it, even if you threatened to eat my kids - me being as thick as a thick thing from Thickville doesn’t help  (using plenty of smilies for humour assurence) I’d rather turn a knob - even using a mouse to turn virtual knob is a bit dull

It’s mostly a matter of turning beats per minute into milliseconds per beat. After a few conversions the pattern starts jumping out at you, but most of us don’t need to do it enough for it stick in our head.

1 minute == 60 seconds
60 seconds == 60000 milliseconds
60000 milliseconds per 100 Beats
600 milliseconds per 1 Beat

60000 milliseconds per 120 Beats
500 milliseconds per 1 Beat

I understand the principle but numbers mean nought to me. I’m not preaching. I could build you a house, a system to repair vinyl records, cook you a meal… but…
I wish I had a better brain for all that lateral thought s%$t.

Hi TonyR:

I know…
Those equations look intimidating…
However, when the concept takes hold it’ll make your reverbs or echos/delays
stand out in your mixes…
I believe there are digital soft-wares that calculate all this automatically…
I am unable to tell you who has this stuff…
However, I think Lexicon is into all this stuff…
Lexicon and Eventide < spelling ?? are the leaders in this stuff…
