What is the Broadcast Quality Vu output
What is the broatcast quality normalization setting; or, the maximum Vu output for broadcast quality musical compositions when submitting a musical CD-R to major media-houses within the UNITED STATES & other Countries??
Huh? Are you asking what major media outlets accept for max gain in digital? Most accept 0db… they have to as so much of the crap mastered today is pushed to the absolute 0db limit. Otherwise, the old rule of thumb was -0.3 db for max peak level. VUs are much too slow to measure peak amplitude in digital.
Or, are you asking where RMS levels should be?

Uuugh!! What are RMS levels?
What is it exactly that you want to know? What are you trying to do?
RMS = Root Mean Squared
It is a way of measuring the average loudness of something… there is a lot more to it than that such a sample period (the RMS as a whole for a song over 3 minutes may be very different than that of the same song in 300ms widows)… but there you go in a nut shell.
Confused yet? That’s why I ask what exactly you want to achieve.
Root
Mean
Square
…or quadratic mean. Peak level is just that; the PEAK or loudest level. RMS is kinda, sorta an “average” level. Higher RMS or “average” level mostly means perceived “loudness” is greater. Google some articles on Mastering. Read Bob Katz stuff on mastering and the use of his “K” metering system which n-Track supports.

I recently ventured into opening ROCK N ROLL STUDIO. I am licenced by the CITY OF OCALA, STATE OF FLORIDA, UNITED STATES. I would like to sell some of the Crystaleans albums in department stores. I have the hook up - just not very much money. Looking to press some CD-Rs somewhere, have 13 albums all of which are really really great. So,,I am trying to get my prepretory work accomplished so that the part on finding money comes a little easier. My preference is slim-jewel cases with nice mulicolored Cds within and shrinkwrapped. If you/or anybody else knows how I can get 13 albums into the market without cash/or credit then please let me know. The best market so far is at http://www.myspace.com/crystaleans, but I'm looking for more!! Thanks for your valuable replies.

WOW You really spelled it out for me perfect. I think I recover something from that. Thanks for the information, it really goes a long way with me right now.
It’s enough to say “screw it” at times and just go to the kitchen table with a pencil, paper and the old acoustic. But there are some things you need to learn sooner or later Lep.
Ooookay… so did you want the original question answered? I still don’t know what you are talking about and I am a pretty bright guy.
Licensed in Florida… for what?
He may have meant “Certified” Chip.
I am certifiable.
Eggs actly
yEP! sEE aLL yOUR NOTES…it’s me who’s certified! On meds for it. Ha Haa Haaa it’s part of my reprituire…crazy man, lunatic, creep so don’t feel bad buds when someones condems you…
thanks for the answers, I just placed an order for 150 CDs. Looks like my Studio is taking off with that. nTrack is the heart. Love you people very much. Not gay…
don't feel bad buds when someones condems you
Didn't mean to make you feel condemned. Then again maybe you just forgot 'paranoid' in you repertory list?

'What we have here is a failure to communicate’
So I thought I’d add to the confusion with THIS:
From a radio station - their requirements to air material -
- http://www.chry.fm/index.p…emid=41
However, I’m thinking you may mean ‘What does a mastering studio
require of my project submission CD - in terms of MAX level and
BIT depth, and SAMPLE rate?’ In that case you could browse any of the
many ‘mastering’ sites on the web for such info. I think that has
been answered here as - 44100 sample rate, 16 bit - and a level as
close to 0db without exceeding 0db. And maybe a little less to let
the ‘masters’ have some wiggle room to work with.
Now I’m paranoid
SevenOfEleven somehow you recover me…anyway…thanks for the advice…what do you say to a solid spectrum of 0 with peaks of 0.02 which is what I mastered 13 albums at. Would the Radio Stations accept it? I hope so the tought of remastering all that material is daunting and I want Radio play so badly…the songs are worth it…
Sorry that link was screwed,
but same site under
Departments
production
then scroll to bottom of page and hit
FTP and Standards
'Read More’
There you will see what they require for broadcast.
