Getting noise in the right channel.
REALLY new to this but the first problem I’m having is a -32db noise (or signal) in the right channel of the recording VU display. This is without anything plugged into the sound card. My Sound is on-board and is the Nvidia Nforce. Any ideas?
Go into your soundcard mixer and make sure you are using the line in NOT the mic in.
The mic in will probably have a poor quality (noisy) pre-amp in it.
If you are still getting noise go back into the soundcard mixer and pull the gain on the line in down.
Most onboard soundcards are pretty noisy anyway.
They aren’t designed for audio work.
They’re good at playing windows sounds
If you want to do audio work or play games you will want to get soundcard designed for either purpose.
