It's hard to tell what historians will say about the Beatles in the future but I suspect that they'll always be in the music/pop history books because they were ground breakers.
Paul McCartney wrote & sung Hey Jude, and I respectively disagree with you. IMO - that's one of the best songs Paul ever wrote. The lyrics are simple but moving and tell a nice story, supposidley about John's son Julian (Hey Jules). I would claim that song has about as much depth as any good song, i.e., it's a cheer up song.

Hey Jude was the most successful Beatles single commercially. It sold 5 million copies and was #1 in at least 12 countries. There's got to be something good about it :-)

The melody line of the song is very basic and not complicated…
The vocal line carries the song…
The music doesn’t get in the way…
I think that’s better…
I think that more covers what I meant to say…
Let me expand on that idea…
Maybe, and it would be my response that it was Paul and John’s attempt to compare their collaboration with something that had been coming out of the Southern States for decades…
There’s some real Beetles Buffs around these parts… They’ve got all of the recorded music and anything ever written about the organization and how their product got to the paying public…
It could even be one of the biggest entertainment enterprises of our time…

Bill - I agree that Hey Jude is a very simple song with a fairly strong melody line but that’s what makes it good. McCartney’s song is so good on it.
I’m not sure I follow what you are saying in the rest of your post?
There’s a guy in the neighbourhood over here that travels the world with his music and entertaining skills…
He has just come home from Liverpool where he does his show every year now sense 2000 or so… Here’s what happened to him and his performance this year…
I know you worked at staging a Neil Young Tribute out on the west coast…
He’s a popular entertainer up here in Canada…
I know there are many Elvis Tributes around the world…
It might be closer than you think…
A Neil Young Tribute could sell… very well…
