Considering another business....

I’m thinking about starting another biz on the side doing Strat hum reducer kits? The one I bought a while back had some deficiencies so I’m considering doing my own. Whatcha think?

Go for it Poppa! Get a few testimonials and you never know! Voila, instant success, a millionaire!

Uh,

I won’t be customer tho, ROFL

Why not? Bunn E. Carlos made a very small bundle selling drumstick wrapping tape before anyone else was doing it.

I’ll send you a Mexi-Strat with singles in it for a test run/development if you want. Afterwards, I’ll write a glowing testimonial. People will REALLY be impressed when they see that THE “Diogenes” approved and endorses your product… Well… maybe not.

lol - I’ll be waiting at the mail box :agree:

If it’s made easy to do on top of effective - I think I could get majer distribution to quite a few stores - and/or just put up a nice web presence. We’ll see.

Oh Yes! Then I be able to say “I knew him when he was just a forum mod”

Yaz - you just gave me a GREAT idea! Upgrade kits for Les Paul owners…

Easy is the key PW. I have seen beau coup of those kits and articles on the webber-net. Most of them are either WAAAYYY too complicated for "Average Joe" or are just plain stupid. I know from first hand experience with several of my music makin' buds over the years; not every guitar picker has soldering skills or equipment nor do they want to learn to do it. Make it reasonable, easy to install with little to NO soldering and effective. You'll do well.

Make it a family business and offer installation. Buyers ship you their axe round trip paid (insured!) and you or your son, daughter, grand daughter, wife, neighbor, cat, dog or horse installs the kit, gives it a quick test and ships it back. Bada-bing.

"Poppa Whipped"

heheeee - Well actually - I recall a Gibson Fender we made in - gee 1976 I think it was - except Gibson called it a ‘Marauder’ or something like that. Most of the guys that played and worked in the Gibson Nashville factory were Fender owners. We all got a kick out of Gibson trying to make a Fender. It fell on it’s face though. Truth be told more of them went out the back door than the front door.

One of these?

Quote:

Due to the bolt-on neck construction and unusual Fender characteristics of the guitar, the Marauder was not a success. It was too much like a Fender for Gibson buyers to like, and too much like the Gibson for those who liked Fender qualities to enjoy. After its slow reaction, the Marauder was discontinued by 1982. It is, however, considered a solid-quality, if unusual, vintage guitar.

My first thought is, "WELL DUH!!!"

The only one I ever picked up played like crap. Around that time ('74-7’8) Gibson cam out with a lot of models that seemed to be of very questionable quality. They called them “student” models. We called them cheap and crappy.

That’s not to say all their lower lines were bad, but the ones that were good were usually from the early 60’s.

That’s the one! - Gibson was looking for a model to run exclusively at the Nashville plant. That was the driving force behind it - not the guitar or the guitar player, but their new factory.

Yep, what a dud! Kinda like Coca Cola trying to make a Pepsi Cola, what’s the frikken point?

Played one briefly eons ago (about 2 mins wuz all I could stand), ugggggggggggg.
:disagree:
Just as soon have a Hub Cap Redneck Les Paul!

Let’s see, an early model Peavey body, Fender Maple neck, Flying V headstock, hmmm

The AMC of guitars, should’a called it a Pacer!

Kramer already had the "Pacer" model name. It was fitting as well... Maybe the Gibson "Pinto" would have been appropriate? Major company... piece o' crap product...

The Gibson Gremlin, dat woulda worked!
