Cool guitars that aren't pauls or strats

Our bass player just got a Schecter bass with Seymore Bass Lines in it (Its a Model-T 4 string). Like a American Fender Jazz Bass for 1/3 the cash. Plays like a dream, sounds like butter.

He also got an Ashdown bass combo. It is spectacular for the cash. It fits a nice nitch between an SVT sound and a Trace Elliot with a bit of Eden/SWR modern smoothness.

This one I gotta’ jump into; my primary guitar is one of those 80s Westone Electras. Strat style bod, HSH pickups, etc. I also have a 1979 Les Paul, but it is seldom used - it sounds great, but it does not get my sound like the Electra. I played the thing in the shop for weeks before I decided, then traded a 1973 Strat for it (not even - the dealer threw in some extras), and have never missed the strat - I hated that guitar! :p

I also have one of the Korean Danelectros, the 56U2. It is sweet, and likely the best $150 guitar I have ever seen… And keep your eyes open for any guitar made by Ventura - I have owned two, and played others, and they are amazing…

Washburn HB-35, 335 rip off, clone, whatever. But for 600 bucks sounds pretty decent.

Gretch Duo Jet - the one Dave Gilmour uses in the 'MeltDown Consert’

That thing sings !

Baldwin Baby Bison. Had one in the early 70’s and another in the mid 80’s

Wish I had 'em back.

Also used to love those Dan Armstrong acrylic guitars.

Now you are talking, Dave! that’s a good, offbeat guitar. So offbeat, I’d never heard of it till now! :)

Dan Armstrongs, cool guitars! Almost bought one in '70’s opted for a strat instead, geesh what was I thinking!

Speaking of Baldwin guitars… I saw this guy a couple of weeks ago playing one:

It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the head stock is kinda strange… It’s got a curvy protrusion at the top. I guess they were trying to make it look more like a classical instrument (cello, viola, etc…)

He plays with:

–She’s a local Houston artist.

Thanks for the link. Never knew the history of Baldwin.
