Daughter As Engineer

Her Mix

My last kid at home, daughter Cydney 15, decided to try her hand at mixing and mastering Dad. Well here is the mix, not yet mastered. I had been thumpin on this for a while, we did this last night.

She picked the guitar and drum sounds, ran the board and did the mix…all I did was play. First person that comments on the flat vocals and where I missed the snare snap dies!

Glad to to see your posts again, gotta run but I’ll check this out as soon as I get back!

You both did great - you’re getting some great sounds!

Your vocals fit the tune man. As for the missed snare… Here ya go. :p

the voice sounds a little fl… oh yeah, the death part. can you exact your punishment on my computer instead?

just kidding, didn’t notice any problems on the one mini comuter speaker on my father-in-law’s machine.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, just like her ol man - Not bad at all, better than some of my slop! Love the song too!

Awsome song Duff.
I’m diggin the bass tone and drive on my laptop of all places.
My tiny laptop!
The bass is awsome here, the rest blends real nice.
She’s a winner!

Awsum job! Get that girl a job as a producer/engineer somewhere!

The vocals sound a little sharp!

Awsum tune!

Thanks for giving that a listen. I’ll show Cyd your responses this afternoon.
We stopped recording at 9:30 pm she mixed until 1:00 am. She says we can do 1 more song, then thats it. She told me this is way too much work, do a take, retake, retake again, listen, adjust, listen, adjust. She wanted to know how to know when its done?..EXACTLY

Hi duffman:

I tried a couple of times now to open that link to your song…
Each time…
No Open…
Must be the link is broken…
At least, on this end…
I did a copy-and-paste to the browser’s address field…
Same thing… sigh…

Bill…

Hi duffman:

I finally downloaded your project…
I looked for the thread and found it…

Boy, there’s a lot of water goes under this bridge around here…

Tell Cydney (for me) to keep up the good work…
Doing this kind of work is like riding a bike…
You never forget how to drive it…
but …
if you do it every day you find you take more chances, when you do…

Bill…

blimey,

you must have given her some help with that… Fair play to her. :agree:

do you reaslise that if she deceides that she really likes her new hobby you’re never gonna get to use your gear again…
