Download

I have an email out to Flavio,.,but maybe someone here can help/.

Have new harddrive and need to download 4.2 Cannot for thelife of me remember my signin and password…do I have to wait for Flavio???

AS far as I know Flavio is the only way to get the codes. He is fairly quick to respond.
Just a suggestion born of my own serial number issues: I created a .txt file and put all my serial numbers in it, I then copy that on to a thumb drive so that If disaster strikes I can re-activate my software.

bax…thanks for the suggestion…way to much forethought fo rm e :)…but will do.

Peace
Dan

You have to have a password to download an OLD version now?

LOL… unbelievable… :disagree:

I think he means - activate after the download

That may be… but you still have to get a login and password to reach the old versions download page… BOOooo…

BOOooo? What is exactly the problem with having to login to download old versions?
The login can be created in a few seconds, we use it to verify that the user has a valid email address. It turns out that a lot of users that download old versions do so because they have cracks or pirated registration codes.

Yes, I realize that. They are going to get it anyway one way or another. It's another hassle that "punishes" the legitimate users while the crackers get away free anyway. It IS your software. Pay me no mind.

Seems programmers/sellers don't have a lot of choices for copy protection right? It's a bummer I know. Hardware dongles are a pain AND expensive to implement. Call/response systems are almost as bad from an administration standpoint. I guess making the download slightly more difficult will help... but not much. Someone hell bent on getting it will bang in a disposable email and away they go.

You have a tough job.

Hopefully the login for the download won't be too much of an hassle for legitimate users. You can create in seconds and no personal data besides the email is requested.
The login is currently used for posting links to your music page and requesting trial extension registration codes. Going forward the login will also be used for things such as automatically requesting forgotten registration codes (instead of a manual form as it is now) and it will be the same login for the forum too.

:agree:

Got it guys…thanks

Personally, I try to avoid sites that require a “registration” to view them.
If I have a “relationship” with them I don’t have a problem, but if it is a product or information I am not sure I want I just don’t continue.
My email accounts are full of junk mail - most of the “junk” is diverted to the junk mail box, but I still have to look at it if I want to be sure that someone I needed to hear from did not get put there.
Right or wrong, I am convinced that sites sell or distribute email address’ - even when they promise not to. :disagree:
(At least, junk mail does not create so much paper-waste, but it is so cheap to generate.)
I think having the forum login also be used for downloads would be acceptable and a good way to go.
Most every software I use now requires a login to download.
I am not sure if it actually protects the vendor, but it does give him a way to identify his customer and the customer to register his license.
