DRUMS a new perspective

TR-808s? This is a joke, right? I mean, they have their place (effects, hip-hop, electronica, etc), but they will never replace a real recorded kit nor do they come close to BFD, DKFH and the like in the synth world. As for things recorded in isolation sounding like poo in the mix, I guess all the big boys in LA, NYC, and Nashville never got the memo. It all depends on the sound you want IMO.

It’s funny -
In the 80’s when drum synths were getting started,
all the producers thought the cheesy sounding percusion
was the wave of the future. And everyone tried it
from Steveie Wonder (‘I Just Called to say I Love You’)
to Bonnie Raitt (‘Storm Warning’) - Very good songs
mind you - especially 'Storm Warning’
From synth to samples. Sampled drums are pretty darn
good. And it’s getting easier to put down a realistic
track now. Pretty soon it will be voice to drums.
So what do bands do now? Sit around the room with
their laptops - pm’ing each other with lyrics and samples?
How about a network band who never meet each other
and perform live from their home studios?
Maybe a reality TV show based on such a band -
The INDIVIDUAL’s
- 9:00 on NBC

ROFLOL…

That site was so cool. What will they think of next?

I took a look @ NinJam (don’t go to NunJam)
I’ll check this out more - get some beers,
and try to jack-in on an open Wi-Fi channel.
Hmmmm
Yeh that’s what I’ll do. :)
