error loading DirectX plugin n-track compressor

I just downloaded, installed and registered version 6, (upgraded from version 5, and before that, version 4) and after loading an older song file I receive the message “error loading DirectX plugin n-track compressor” and Failed reconnecting DirectX plugin Pins". I wonder if the plugins can be reloaded? I haven’t found references on how to do so.

I don’t know what file names I’m needing, if these already exist in older directories.

I opened the effects window and under settings did a rescan, as I read in the forum, to no avail.

Should I be using the new multiband compressor instead?

I’d suggest that you reinstall n_Track and see if that does not fix the problem. It should automatically uninstall the previous installation of 6 (it will leave 5 in place I think). Should load DX after that - why it did not I do not know. Did you have a anti-virus progam running when you installed - it you did, turn it off to install.
Hope this works.

Is this on a Vista OS by any chance?

I’ve been having directX problems myself, but haven’t tried installing with my anti-virus program turned off. I’m got Windows XP, if that means anything.

my computer is running XP Pro and I did not have an anti virus program running. I can try reinstalling and see what happens, although it may be tomorrow before I have the time.

Some included n-Tracks plug-ins may have changed over the years…changing ID or the way they are referenced or created in the app. The reason to change them is so newer versions don’t conflict or so the new versions could be used instead of the old ones if they are compatible. If an older song is referencing an old one and it is not registered any more this would be a symptom. They could get unregistered by an uninstall. A way to get them back is to reinstall the older version of n-Tracks. That isn’t always the best thing to do, depending on the version. It depends in the plug-in whether or not that would be the way.
