Finely tuned ears needed

Vocals lost

I’m dubious about posting this one as it’s in Tagalog (Filipino). But would appreciate a listen and some advice. Because of the dynamics of the sing I seem to be losing the vox in the mix sometimes. Any ideas would be welcome.
It was originally a folk song. It’s not now :)
Thanks,

Great track - sounds like contest material to me. Nice mix.

mm i dont think the vocals get lost, o do think they need a little more volume, just in case give it a little more compression, not to much, but i think a little more comp. and a little more volume would make the vocals stand out more.

just my 2 cents.

Ian…dude…that is dudalicious!

Great opening chords, great guitar toward the beginning, amazing sound. Great solo too. :agree: The vox get lost when the guitar gets big, yes; my modest proposal is - just on those parts - to double them or perhaps compress and do a bit of high end EQ lift or stick a light chorus on them something like that so they sound different and set up. Wait - there is a harmony in there - double both the main like and the harmony.

Nice tune Ian. Sounds great. I love the guitars.

I can’t listen very well at the moment to make any mix comments. The “boss” is watching a movie, while reading a book with her eyes closed…

D

Thanks Guys,
I’m always loathe to use too much compression in case I get to the point where the voice sounds lifeless.

Tom: Some interesting ideas there. I might have a go at some of those today. The big power chords were not on the original tune which was a quiet acoustic song.

This is part of a project I’ve been trying to get done for 3 years (lazy and a touch hesitant). I’m was asked to submit 3 songs to a media company in the Philippines with me singing in Tagalog (novelty act I guess). But I wanted to take 3 classic Filipino songs and do something different with them. This is the last one.

Cheers guys…will keep at it. :D

Tried to take the easy way out and added a tad more volume and compression. Same link.

yes, a little compression would rise the voice volume… or a little EQ (i often used it).
is the piano recorded with midi? i would bring it a little EQ to sound more natural…

It’s not my style but it sounds 90% PRO.

Thanks Wyndorf,

The Piano is indeed midi. Drums and Bass are soundfonts. Guitars and voice are real :)

Sounds great Ian! 2nd Mix worked for me. :)

Hi Poppa,

I might record the vox in English also. The 2nd track I have finished for the Filipino demo is here Nosi Ba Lasi (Who are they?)

The 3rd one, I need Mr Spademans permission for as it's a translation into Tagalog of one of his songs :)

Cheers Guys!
