Here’s an interesting video comparing game simulations to their real world counterparts -eg flight sim to flying a plane and Guitar Hero on the Wii to the real thing.

Although I do NASCAR & FLIGHTSIM - I think I get a lot out of
NASCAR that’s helped with my driving. And I have the tickets to
proove it. The idea is to get out ahead of everyone else.
And if you believe the 911 commission, the Flight School apparently
helped those scum steer a real plane into a building.
And of course the military use simulation training for just about
anything you can think of. I think it depends on the degree
(expense) of the programming involved to create the sim.
Obviously Guitar Hero could be made to more acurately simulate
actual guitar playing, but it would be way too expensive.
And probably a lot less fun.
At 4:32 some dude is way out of tune.

Yeah, there's a coupla mistakes in the Beat It riff too. :-( As for real guitar hero - the "real" is in quotes :-)
The guy doing the video is a friend of mine. He asked for some widdly-widdly, so I dialed in my best EVH sound and had a little go.
As for the 911 stuff and learning to fly a plane - I'm not quite convinced yet but I've never done the real thing so how would I know eh?
That’s great Mark! The games are great, but to be able to transfer to reality? No!
The Mrs just bought me a wii so I can escape from reality completely (instead of only partly which is my normal state of being)

The Wii, I tried guitar hero, it sucks, so did I. Something about the music and the notes outta sink also really screwed me up.
Tiger Woods golf, threw my left shoulder outta whompus with that one, never again.
Mario cart was ok, but wrists hurt like crap the next day from all that steering. And jerking and cussing and other foul thingies.
Sumation, don’t want no Wii. Stick with the game cube here.

Get off yer butts and grab a real set a clubs hit the front nine and enjoy the outdoors.
If you can’t play a real guitar then you’ll never be a guitar hero.

I have to agree with Yaz there, by the time you’ve spent all day playing guitar Hero, you would already learned a real song on a real guitar if you’ld done that instead!
Like I can talk about it, I just got my daughter a DS for Christmas, hasn’t gotten out of her hands yet!
Heh… earlier this evening, I figured out how to get the Wii connected to the webber-net. We can surf on the big screen from the couch or recliner. Cool!
I am with you guys on the Guitar Hero/Rock Band thing… BAH! Learn to play a real instrument already… I know I’m trying…
