Have It Your Way

Yea - I posted 3 others - one might slide right in this - but I like dynamic ins and outs a lot - so check 'em out. 12 bar stuff all.

where does one find them?

Here we go 'round the mulberry bush…

I found your post. One sounds pretty good, a little soft but good. Almost a tex shuffell. I’ll get to the others soon enough. Thx

I have a bunch of songs ready to start work on. I’ll send you a sample of the beat when I’m ready and you can do your majic, just have to do someting with the same time and feel. Or are you restricted by samples?

you didn’t happen to see any mandolin files flyin around did ya?

I have mandolin but only for up tempo solos. Hardy har har.

Restricted by samples… no EZDrummer holds up great in most any feel and tempo.
RealBand is ristricted by tempo in certain feels. I have done tracks combining both which is fun to do.

Fix the drums! heheheh

Drums may be a little too hot in the mix, kinda overshadows the rest. And yer a geetar picker Levi, shame on you fer not having the axe out front!

What do you call a drummer with 2 brain cells?

“Gifted”

Thx Zay I'll consider that!
But my first love was drums! It isn't my fault that my parents bought me a guitar when I asked for drums as a kid  You know alot has to do with the effect that I used with the guitar.
In fact using triplets really, IMO, should only be used in a supporting role.
Thats why your not hearing any serious soling with fast quick riffs.
It's all slow phrasing so the triplets are pronounced enough.
I could brighten it some I guess but in a way this gives my set more originality.
Your words are echoing in my mind!
I'll be considering what you say.
Much appreciated good buddy!

It’s not a biggie, just my personal taste Levi, good tune tho!

Hey Zay and all opion makers here.
I really do appreciate your input.
What have I learned from this?
I had a lazy mix!
Each of you nudged me to make a mix with much more dynamics.

Zay, I brightened the guitar & brought it up a click or 2 and use envelopes to raise the important riffs that didn’t impede on the vocals.
Thx!
I brought the vocals up more for TomS and Dubious again today. Why? Because they made me focus on them.
Even though I see them as more of an instrument in this song.
I finally found the air sound at the beginning, it was the guitar.
Glad that’s gone.
Less muddy for Punky.
But I also kept the drums up there.
Also using more envelopes to create a more dynamic mix.
Hope this works.
It will be interesting to see if I get a better response.
I like to think that it’s done
 but who know what’s next! Thx again!
You can have the song if you want it.
Just let me know. I’m really not sure if it’s set for downloads at SC or not.

Darn air noise/rumble is still there.

Much better in my mind. Levi. Love it when everything settles down a bit around 1:10
:agree:
Anyway to have the bas do a unison of the guitar lick at 2:00? Have guitar do the first two then have bass join it - that would be cool.

 Cool is what we are after here, I'll give the unison riffs some thought good buddy! thats actually a very good idea!
I'm also considering your other idea of slipping one of thoes other clips in here for a little more coolness.
Thx
thinking the noise at the beginning (air sound) is SC or my comp.

You may be down on your voice, but you shouldn’t be. It has character. that’s most of the battle. the rest is confidence.

Thx Thomas,
I'm not down on my voice as much as it might seem.
Unfortunately at this point I still haven't done anything constructive with the lyrics.
The word Veneer keeps comeing to the surface but that's so mean! lol

I appreciate your input.
The song is currently at 27 on SC's blues rock chart.
Think it will bang aa gong?
Will Punkies drums weigh the balance?
Will that sexy little icon creat enough curosity?
The mystery continues! lol
Levi

Levi…I give you a 10…You are one Bad Bad Blues guy…Sounds great to me :)

Hey thx cowboy, I do appreciate that! You know that Young Poppa Willis did the drums for this tune? Much appreciated Daner!

Sounds great now Levi. Really dirty guitar sound :agree: …love it! Vox about right in the mix…all is good! :agree:

That’s some wicked guitar work.
:agree: I voted “good mix”, though I would like to hear the vocals more clearly once you get the lyrics how you want them. My favorite Levi song to date.

Hey Bruffie and Kevin thanks for takin the time to listen and respond, much appreciated.

Don’t the drums sound cool?
Thinking this is the drum sound I’ve always tried to mix into my songs.

Someone polled that it could be better. Yes I agree and think that they can always be better.
Wish that someone would have taken the time to go a little into detail so I could consider more changes.
But then again is it worth it?
Thinking that some songs are only going to be filler songs on a CD.
Eventhough cool, they will only get or warrant so much attention.
And just for the sake of argument say that it’s a great song that anyone would want to hear.
When do you draw the line?
I mean from crossing over into the “over produced” arena?
It’s tough to see it all.
That makes y’all and this forum very valuable.
I can see that I should have gone into more depth with my poll questions, that might help.
Polls are good!
You guys are great!
