He Shines Again

There hasn’t been a lot posted here on the music side lately, and with so many people in a panic over the economy/stockmarket/whatever, it seemed an appropriate time to pull something out of the vault. Bear in mind that this is an attempt to re-master a cassette copy of something I did back in the '90s. A friend of mine had opened an ADAT studio here in town, with just his live sound experience to rely on. Between the two of us, with the help of some studio musicians from Cookeville, and a couple of local musician friends, we recorded a cassette album of some of my songs. This was, and is, probably the most popular song of the bunch. The lofi version truly sucks, but it still seems worth the effort.

He Shines Again

I like the oldies to digital idea. Drums seemed to suffer the most. Kick and snare anyway.

Like the song. Sure do like your tasty pickin’…

Can’t take credit for the lead, Tommy. A young guy by the name of Joel Key (it’s hard to remember, but I think that was his name) provided that. I just strummed and sang. I still have the ADAT tapes in a box somewhere if I ever decide to re-mix. Well, that is if time hasn’t done a number on em.

Hi kevinmyers:

Great song…
It’s my kind of song…
Why is it I can hear one of those Vocal Harmony VST Plugs on your vocal track…
????..
Just on some of the Tasty Lines…
Not too much or over done…

Bill…

I want to listen but I’m on holiday paid for by my lovely fiance…can only use the limited access computer in the hotel…

Great tune and performance Kevin, nice pipes too! :agree:

Sounds a little like Roy Orbison! :)

I hear Alabama or the Bellamy Bros or even Kevin Myers doing it…
You should be pitching Arista or BMG or One-of-Them…

Reply here tomorrow and give us a three page report, on the deal you struck…

I know a deal takes longer than that… but you can update us on the deal progress…

Bill…

Nice tune Kev… very well done! :agree:

You all are definitely being kind on the vocals. It’s easy enough to hear where I’m straining to hit the notes. (Funny how it’s always easier to sing live than in the studio.) A friend of mine sings this song more than I do now. They even had that final line of the chorus up on their “billboard-thing” in front of his church a while back. (I swear I must have some form of aphasia as often as I forget the names for things.) But anyway, it is a song I’m proud to have written, and glad you found it listenable.

I dunno about “aphasia” Kev… but I have this “thing” where I can’t remember song titles. P&W leader at church will ask about a song and I’ll go “Err… uh… can you HUM a few bars??” “What key is it in?” LOL…
