Heavier sounds?  No, not really

Guys!
Can I jump in? I’m but a lowly strummer with an old CMI Tele, a 100watt top (Brit,4x4EL34 job with spurious parentage?) and an open 2x12(Celestion).
Need me a nice little combo, like the little tube vox that TomS SSssPprriiiingszZZZ about with.
Any other suggestions?

I’m not the biggest fan of the Vox amps with modeling, BTW.

No matter what you are trying to achieve I think it sounds great! Cool clip!

This amp, I believe is all that is necessary in a studio, along with the right mic to make all the guitar tracks that you might ever want to do..
Along with a delay and distortion pedals..

Sorry, Bill, but I have to disagree on that one.
I had one of THESE but I had to let it go. There's a bunch of things it can not do.
That said, what it does, it does REAL good. The creamy mids when you crank it - ahhhh...

I ended up with a 65 Amps Soho 1x12 combo instead and never looked back.

Oh, my.
:agree:

Hi Gents:

What a beautiful lookin Amp that is, teryeah..
I'd be interested in seeing the Circuit of that amp to see how the preamp, buffer and phase circuits compare to the AC 30 amp design..
I believe the AC 30 amp has Push-pull parallel EL 84's while this amp has classic Class A Cathode biased 6BQ5's..
What's fascinating is, they use an EF86 Pentode in the preamp circuit design, allowing that circuit to control a wide range in preamp amplification levels..
It's tough to have that ability to do that using triodes or 12AX7 tubes as the preamps..

Now, that would be a Preamp Amp and Amp Design to "Model"...

Can I ask how much that amp set you back ????

Bill..

[edit]
OoHh..
I forgot..
The guy that's bringing in that Black Faced Twin Amp that originally came from Florida..
he wants a new set of 6L6 tubes and a Bias Set done, to his Amp..
Anyway, it's on it's way in..
He's just busy doing lots of stage work..
He's a Character-and-a-Half..
Got a great touch on his Guitar.. and.. plays a Steel Guitar, as well..
Anyway, he wouldn't play an Amp that doesn't have a Mid-range Control in the preamp circuit..
He finds he is unable to "Sweep" the "right taste" he uses-and-likes, without this control..
I believe, he had a re-issue Tweed Twin that he gave up because it had no Mid Control..

In my opinion, of course..
An Amp with too many buttons on the panel can be too confusing to the Operator, and rarely uses the buttons to his advantage..
I see some of these Massa Amps that has double rows of buttons on the front panel..
None of them do anything to the sound..
Only the Buttons on the Back Panel does anything..
:)

How long have you had that Soho 65 Amp ????

Back Again:

I had a good/long look at that Soho 65Amp Page…
All the questions and answers were there…
I went through the audio demo clips…
I found the msp for that amp…
They’re talkin some 2800.00 for it…
The models are Head only and combo amps…
Mix-and-Match your own speaker and cabinets…

Nice stuff, to say the least…

Soho 65Amp

Now that's a REAL toob amp!

I'd love to have a beast like that...

A lot of what …

well…

Many guitar players attack their instrument differently…
The signal that comes from the pickups under those conditions greatly affect how the preamp stage of an amp processes that signal…
The difference between a good amp and an excellent amp can sure affect a guitar player’s disipline-and-style, if-or-when he can hear that difference…

I remember back in the late '70’s working at the Musicstop…
Ann Murray’s Guitar player would come into the store on Monday morning, when they would come off the road…
Georges Hebert, French Guy, was from Moncton…,
However, they’d all land in Halifax…
SO, he’d come into the store on the search for that “Magic Amp” and “Sound”… He’d go down the Amp Line with his guitar and try all the NEW Amps on display…
Monday is always a quiet day at a Music Shop…
Nobody gets outta bed until Wednesday…
I could get more work done on Monday than any other day of the week…
I had the shop all to myself…
Anyway, he’d be playing all his guitar lines looking for that “Sound”…
he was missing… The Guy Had Magic Hands…
:)
Then he’d ask me…
How’s that amp sound OX.
????

I used to piss him off SO Bad…
I’d say to him…
That sounds just like you Georges… He’d go stompin outta the store…
hehe…
He still plays on Ann’s stage when she’s out on the road…

perhaps I should do that this weekend.

You better... I went on the clock when we first talked about it. You'll need an Obomber bail-out...

UJ

Obomber will have to borrow the money from China now...

You're totally wrecking the American economy Tom...

BUT..
It should..
:p

That style helps condition the Ribs-and-All..
Keeps the guitar from drying out..
:)

I'm not familar with the Victoria 5112 or the '05 Gretch 6120 DSW..
Does it mean you got a level playing field Deal ????

I hear you..
Trades are only mutual to both sides of the trade..
