Buying a new computer for recording

Is anyone familiar with the Dell Studio XPS 9000?

I want to know how compatible it is with N-Track 6.

Specifications:

Intel Core i7-920 processor(8MB L3 Cache, 2.66GHZ)
Window 7
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 4 4G1064D
500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
M-Audio DELTA 1010LT Sound Card

Andrew…

You should have no trouble at all with that PC. The I cores are screamin fast, and Windows 7 is stable as a rock. The Delta card seals the deal for recording.

The only thing that would make it faster would be the operating system on an SSD drive. I’d also add another 500gb drive for storage/backup.

Depending on your mobo choice, you may want to check your memory configuration. As far as ram goes, the x58 mobos are actually triple channel, meaning your your ram either has to be configured 3GB, 6GB, 12GB, and so on…

Hi Gents:

That hardware list and setup you have looks like a beautiful setup…
What Motherboard do you use ????

Is it a 32 bit OR 64 bit Operating System?
or did I miss seeing that ?

Bill…

Thank you michaelST for your opinion - greatly appreciated!
I’m waiting for SSDs to increase in size before investing in one.

bigb6611,

My HP Ram had to be configured in 3GB groups as well; however, this Dell model
doesn’t mention that - could you elaborate more on this?

Thank you,

Andrew

Bill,

The Operating System is Windows 7 Home Primium, 64 bit

Thanks for your concern,

Andrew
