Help a newbie with ntrack 3.2 + vsti

Need an idiot’s step-by-step

Using Windows XP SP2, n-track 3.2 (registered/paid), and can create midi files and import them into n-track. Then what? Can someone suggest two free kvraudio.com vsti’s to download and how to assign each to a separate midi file, then record in n-track.

If you can assist I’ll be forever grateful. The grey matter is not working here. Slow and explicit please.

Thanks.

Steve

One of the best and simple bread and butter synths out there.

Fabulous Soundfont player - opens up a huge world of possibilities in terms of sample libraries :)

It took me a bunch of help from this forum but I finally got MIDI down to where I could actually use it (not very well, but enough).
The final pointers I needed are contained in this tutorial from audiominds… You will need a vst host such as sfz which is pretty common and its free.

Thanks to you both - the tutorial was excellent.

That was a nice ‘tut’ g8torcliff.
How did you do that?

Also, [like as if anybody would want too]
you can open Sfz as a VSTi on a midi track,
and instead of using a ‘sound font’, - open
a .wav file and play it as a sample. But I
guess those days are over.

Wish I could take credit for the tutorial, but it was done by someone else. When I was struggling for MIDI help, someone here directed me to that tutorial and everything clicked. That was a couple years ago. I said thanx, thanx, thanx then and I’ll say it again here - thanx, thanx, thanx. :agree:

I can’t possibly be the only one wondering why a self-described “newbie” is using a version of n-Track thats more than two years old, can I?

Its hard to say… I started a couple years ago with version 2.x that I found in a bin of old software at a garage sale. It had codes written on the disc so I bought it, went home and installed it and it ran fine. When I outgrew it, I purchased version 4.x and immediately downloaded 3.3. So you never know. But, I like to think most people are simple hobbiests looking for some enjoyment and probably stumble upon something to play with and find they like it a lot more than they thought they would. Personally, until I find out they are, in fact, a dubious character, I am willing to help them out.
