Hey woxnerw - the good old hockey game

a la Flint

Just got home from this one - most fights I’ve ever seen in person…

Thought you might enjoy it, Bill! :)

i went to a boxing match one night and a hockey game broke out!!

Hi Gents:

That happened here during a MJHL, (Second Tier) Junior game the other night…
The Halifax Wolverines at Home to the Summerside
(whatever’s) ????
I wasn’t there,
but I believe the Game that broke out, got suspended…
Someone had a video camera there and recorded the fight.
The clip ended up on the TV…
But…
before the clip got to the media the league wanted the clip…
to put their spin on what was there…

As a result, several players from both benches got suspended and the Summerside Trainer got suspended, as well…
This is a tough league…
and the players are trying too hard to make their mark on the scouts…

It’ll be too late when-and-after innocent kids get injured…
There’s no love lost between these two teams…
On the bench or behind the bench…

Bill…

Roller Derby??

Hi phoo:

Roller Durby was pretty popular in the days when I had the big C-Band Antenna out in the yard…
It seemed to be quite a popular sport back then.
I remember that some team members put on a show where some members put on the serious part of the event.
Well, it looked serious…

In Hockey, and…
around here,
it can get serious after the Bantam age.
The kids that survive out of Bantam and stays into Hockey has to have size and weight…
Midget/High-School hockey will tell the story…
Hockey doesn’t get easier…
You either get drafted out of Junior or you are relegated into Gentleman’s League Hockey…
That league is as serious as Hockey can be…
The only thing is, the quality of skill levels is quite diverse…
Injuries abound in Gentleman’s Hockey…
They say that if you survive playing Hockey into that age…
(over 21)
and you want to play Hockey, you’d better be prepared to like Hockey…
Big Time…
A lot of those teams end up with the minimal number of players for a game.
AND the quality of Hockey wouldn’t be pretty…

Bill…

wow,the good old C Band days!!! i had,and still do have ,a big ole 10ft dish,i was the first guy in my county to have a dish,i had a anderson 1000 receiver, and then ya still had to have a blockdown converter in line with yer lna,and then i had a hand crank to move the dish, all the channels were free,it was 2 yrs before HBO scrambled thier singnal and then within 2 yrs all the big channels followed suit, but there was still alot to be had, great picture too,no washout in a storm, never had a problem with the 10 ft,to think thats been 23 yrs already, now everyone has a direct or dish network 2ft dish in their yards,

Hi wozz:

We must be of similar cloth…
However, out here on the north-eastern coast of North America most of the “Foot-Prints” are/were on the weak-to-no-signal… strength…
I had a 12 ft. dish…
The setup allowed me to see the belt from due south to due west.
~64 degrees…
south to ~139 - 143 degrees west.

You are correct…
This was back in 1982…
Everything was free…
I liked the “Back-Haul” feeds…
The NBA was big back then…
I followed the Knicks and the Celtics games…
The Knicks was my favorite team…
Does anyone remember Larry Bird of the Celtics ???? …
What a competitor, that guy was…
Sorry, I can’t remember the Big Guns on the Knicks…
When those two teams played Magic happened on the Court…

Was that 25 years ago ????
Well…
What’s a couple of years…
Here-or-There… Anyway… ???? I liked my C-Band antennae…

Bill…

p.s.
I have a KU Band receiver…
I got it this summer… But I don’t have any outside hardware for the installation yet…
I should get busy with it…
before the snow flies…
We’ll see…
Right now…
I hang a “Coat Hanger” out the window to catch some NOISY OFF Air TV…
I think I can get Three Channels…

Sometime…

Local CBC…

CTV…
and

Global Networks…
It’s like looking at TV through the eyes of a dog…
Sorry Lassie…
