How bogus letter became a case for war

Intelligence failures surrounded inquiry on Iraq-Niger uranium claim.

Very interesting read & sheds better light on the whole Iraq/Niger/yellow cake/mushroom cloud thing that led the US to war in Iraq.

Of course, we now know the whole thing was bogus & this article explains how/why.

Oh…so…they…lied to us???

Well they get around that by saying that they got this intel from the British (cough, cough). They cherry-picked information to make the case for war. The net effect was that they did lie, i.e., Iraq was not a immenient or immediate threat.

Who’s our next prez gonna be, Mike? :D

Ain’t gonna be republican!

Fred Thompson will beat Obama by a 20% margin.

He has the charm factor so important to Republicans and Independents. Qualifications, honesty and integrity matter little to most of the voting public. If those qualities really mattered don’t you think Bush and Cheney would have been impeached by now? Larceny is a virtue that makes republicans sport wood.

This was said in all sincerety and not jokingly.

Fred Thompson just may be your next king.

Be afraid.

Fred has a philosophy degree, and hence is unelectable. :)

I wouldn’t bet my life on that! It’s too early to tell.

BTW - Cheney’s lying again about the Iraq/Al Qaeda non-existent link - Saddam’s pre-war ties to al-Qaeda discounted

Eyup!

Yes, quite true, and Blair got around the WMD lie by claiming that we were told by the Yanks.
I suppose that's what the "special relationship" is. We lie for each other. How depressing.

Never mind. Both of them will soon be consigned to the history books, and we can start again ???

A philosophy degree? ???

Is that one of those degrees that goes up and down like a thermometer; or one of those degrees that spins around and around like a compass? :D

Illustrating the value of my own philosophy degree, the answer is: "yes." :D
