I am using N-track 5 with an Echo Layla card. When I load an audio file it plays it faster than it should.
Any help appreciated.
thanks
IT sounds like they are in different frequencies 48000? 44000? 96?
I am not real familiar with the newer versions of N, (other than hearing the different error reports here over the years form the beta versions of different upgrades) but when I bring a track in that was recorded in a different frequency than the current sample rate I am using it is either slower or faster than whatever I am using to synchronize the newer tracks (eg. click track, midi, metronome, internal clock, interface clock.)
It would be helpful to know what you are using to judge the speed of said tracks…and what sample rate you are currently recording at, along with the sample rate the previous “imported” tracks where done in.
There are a number of computer related problems that can make a track be off timing…
IN my version though it ask if I want to convert the file to the current sample rate before it comes in…if I say no, then it brings it in and it plays at a different speed than other tracks I also have there.
There are a number of computer related problems that can make a track be off timing…different conversion methods like taking something from MP3 and converting it to wav. or other files that are not “lossless”…it could even theoretically happen when it is converted from one sample rate to another (although rare and usually this would involve a virus or some other compression related issue)
Along with various other settings both within Ntrack, your Windows clock settings etc etc…will all produce on “off” track, whether it be too slow or too fast (relatively speaking since slow or fast can be observed simply by the track being a digit or two forward or backward on the time line) then theres the “snap to settings”…don’t want to go there…since I still haven’t figured that one out in 7 years…
If the tracks are REALLY FASTER, than they will be shorter, since it takes a shorter period of time to play a “faster” track.
I’d say check the play time sec. and hundredth of a second against the original files in the original program they were recorded in.
I suggest making a “click track” in the original BPM of the song or setting the metronome at that BMP and pressing “play” along with checking the current sampling frequency against the tracks you are importing…
There is also a “speed up” or “slow down” track option somewhere in Ntrack but if you haven’t gone in there and done it that should not be an issue.
There was one more thing that comes to mind with this error report specifically with the Layla but alas my memory and a few cups of wine tonight is not all that it could be…
If I should recall it though I will post later, or perhaps someone else who is more in the know will chime in
BTW I Rock (or try to) lol for the master as well, I play a mean kazoo! welcome brother!
keep shinin’

Your original file and n-Track/Layla are at different sample rates. Explore the sample rate settings in Preferences and your Layla control panel and you should get it going...

Thanks guys. I’ll play with the sample rates. It was a track that was recorded by someone else. But it was converted from WMA to Wave. It was noticeably different in speed. I could hear the difference. My computer plays the track thru the integrated soundcard on the motherboard. N-track plays it thru the layla. It is prolly full step or two higher in pitch on the layla.
I played with the sample rates and got it running. It was actually set right but after playing around with the sample rates and changed back to 44100 it worked.
thanks
