Installing an old version on Vista

Version 3.0

It doesn’t seem to be possible to install version 3.0 on Vista. A “Preparing to Install n-track” box flashes briefly on the screen, and that’s about it. I tried changing the properties of the installer EXE, such as forcing compatibility with Windows XP, and I run it as an administrator.
Can anybody tell me if it is possible to install this version on Vista, or do I have to upgrade to 5.0?

Hi StevieJ:

It might be an issue with the installer EXE that Flavio used with v3…
I’d would tend to think that there was no VISTA Desk/Operating System, available back then…

There might be some other “VISTA Guys” up here that could try installing v3 to confirm that v3 installs on their VISTA Operating Systems, or not…

It might be worth some mail to Flavio to see what his reply would be to this question…

Bill…

I’ve just downloaded and installed v3.3 on a Vista box without any problems so unfortunately it must be something to do with your machine StevieJ.

As a matter of interest do you get a zombie process in task manager after the installer has quit? If you do you’ll probably need to kill that process before making further attempts to run the installer.

I have the same problem as StevieJ when I try to install version 2.3.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
