Interesting Application..

Found it in my Mail Box…

Hi n-Trackers:

The guy that played Keys on the last stage I worked on sent me some mail today…
If he finds something he generally sends me the link…

This sounds/looks pretty Fascinating…

So…
I thought I’d share it with you
DROP BOX

Maybe, you already have this…
and are using this…

Hi All:

I’m back here again…

This application looks like it may have great potential…
I got it downloaded and installed…
I have it configured to a 2 GIG BOX Size… FREE…
You can get more but you then have to shell out for it…
It still looks good to the size versus price…

It looks like it could be great for collaborating with and trading music files and all…

Someone…
read between the lines and see what the down-side to this might be…
Have I missed something ????

Bill…

I’m not sure about having ALL my stuff out there. There might be privacy and hacking issues? On the other hand, it would be totally convenient, since I’m bouncing between four computers all the time…

Hi TomS:

Thanks for your reply and downside, to this…
At first glance, I hadn’t put any consideration into this matter…
I know I am unable to get a LAN up-and-running between these computers I have…

The one in the house will not communicate with the two machines in the studio…
However, the two in the studio behave just fine on the network…

The up-side to this application for me is… I think I’ll be able to sync the files from either computer that I work on and ask for the sync to execute…If this process would work I can see a two-fold process to take hold…
Transferring files and syncing, at the same time, between machines…

To this point-in-time
so-far-so-good…
I haven’t loaded any files to the folder yet…
Still in the consideration Mode… :p
:)
???

Four machines
EH ????
I have three and I think I’m fuzzy, at times…
and it’s not the three machines that bother me…
hehe…

Gosh I thought everyone knew about Drop Box already. You dont have to install their application. Just sign up and create an account. Once you have an account created you can create folders within your account and allow/invite others to access
a folder. Great way to share tracks for a collab in native WAV format.

Hi duffman:

After hearing TonyR’s virus story and TomS talk about this I’m still gonna give this a GO… I have issues getting a LAN to run on my setup… I am unable to get it setup to operate, the way I’d like to see it run… As far as Drop Box goes,
I’m thinking, I may post stuff in the folder just long enough to share current folders-and-files then delete them as soon as I have the transfer completed…
Just to see how it serves to purpose…
I have a registered account with the site but I need to install Drop Box in the studio’s DJ Desk machine…
I hope to do that later on today and then give it a test run…
I have a MIDI Test Project that I am working on…
I did the Bass Track on the DJ Desk Setup (the first Track, by-the-way) and then opened n-Track Drums on the timeline in the house, where I’m at now…
But I’d like to see the project transferred back to the DJ Desk, in the Studio, to see if I can get the project to run there…
This is my first attempt to run n-Track’s Drums on a timeline…

I can hear the drum track but I am unable to see the track on the timeline…
What gives ????

Maybe, someone can help me through this issue if I post a link to the Drop Box and you can see, WHAT GIVES, with this issue… I, for sure, Don’t Know…
:)
:p

Bill…

Soundcloud has a similar set-up.

Hi Gents:

I’ve been busy over the past few hours…
I have This Drop Box Link… for those of you who might be interested to see if this works, as intended…
I have a set of SNG files and two WAV files in this n-Track Folder up on the Drop Box storage site…
I’d like to see if the sng files can be opened on your n-Track timeline and as well…
check my progress using n-Track Drums… ( OoHh Yes…
By the way, This Drop Box syncs to the DJ Desk machine in the studio…
That part of this setup seems to work pretty good, in my opinion… )

Maybe, comment on the technical progress of me using n-Track drums, if the SNG files can be opened on you n-Track timeline…
Actually, I’m just using n-track drums to create a metronome track for now…
I’d say I’m into issues setting up a click track… Maybe you can step me through a process where-by I can get a click track to open and transfer to a WAV file… and all…
Then I can do away with the ghost track, so-to-speak…

Am I headed in the right direction…

I think I need help…
Big Time…
:)
:p

Bill…

edit…
Thanks for the SoundCloud link TonyR… :agree:

Oh YES…
I don’t have much-if-anything on that site as yet…
However, have a peek around to see what the security of this page /storage site is like…
????
Can you ?

Bill…

I took a breather and now I’m back at this test project…
I purposely left out a wav file for the Drop Box Internet folder…
When the DJ Desk machine synced and I opened n-Track using the DJ Machine one file was omitted…
n-Track confirmed the missing file… I went back to the machine in the house and uploaded the missing file and then returned to the DJ Machine and it automatically synced the Drop Box file and n-Track responded to the added file…
All seems to work just fine on this end…

I need to address where to place the Drop Box File on the DJ P-4 machine…

So far…
this seems to suit the LAN that is missing between the house-and-studio, just fine…

Security ?????
that could very well become another issue…
We’ll see…

Bill…

edit… I’d like to see if this project could be duplicated from the link that is posted in the earlier thread… Thanks …
