Life On a Lake

New, unfinished song

Life On a Lake
This is the first time time I’ve published an unfinished song for others to hear. I just finished the rough the tracks today. The lyrics are unfinished.

I started writing this song last summer in Maine where I’ve been going for some 40+ years. I am tyring to make it my “Strawberry Fields Forever” song (although I am in no way comparing myself to JL or his songwriting abilities).

Comments/criticisms are very welcome!

Got a nice easy feel to it
:agree:

I’d have this on in the car on a long drive.

:)

Me too - shades on, elbow out the window.

Nice work, Mike. Lovely feel.

Thanks. That’s what the song is supposed to feel like so I am glad that is coming across. In fact, I was worried that it was a little slow but I decided to keep it at this tempo.

MIKE…HI, I’M LINDA !!
EXCUSE ME, BUT YOU SAID THIS WAS UNFINISHED ??
HOLEY MOLEY, MIKE…IT’S “FABULOUS” !!!
FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, THIS IS A DONE DEAL, BUT I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE PERFECTIONISM.
WE IS AFFLICTED WITH IT, EH ?? HONESTLY, THOUGH…THIS IS A FANTASTIC PIECE, MIKE.
WAS A TOTAL PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO, FER SURE

NICE TO MEET YA…LINNER (LINDA) :D

THAT WAS A TWELVE STRING, WASN’T IT ???

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the kind words. Yes the song is unfinished because many of the tracks are quick takes and the lyrics are not done, but the basic song is there which is why I dared to share it. I will post the final song when it is finished (I’ve been working on it this weekend).

That’s not a 12-string but that would sound nice. It’s a 6 string acoustic guitar (double tracked) and an electric guitar following the basic chords, which gives it that 12-string kind of sound.

Thanks again.

Mike

UH HUH :agree: OKAY, UNDERSTAND WHY NOW, AND THANKS FOR ANSWERING ME, MIKE !!

SINCE I THINK IT’S EXCELLENT NOW, GOSH…CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR THE END RESULT :)

HURRY UP, PLEEEEZE … LINNER :p

Here’s the final version Saint George’s Lake.

I re-did a lot of the tracks including vocals/harmony. I added another electric guitar part - the harmonics in the left speaker. The lyrics are finished and I renamed the song to Saint George’s Lake.

As always, high quality versions of my songs can be purchase on my web site. I hope that you like it!

Since your lake is in Maine, shouldn’t it be Cranberry Fields Forever ??

Well, Mike…I’m still gentled by your tune.
It makes me feel like the reeds at the edge of the lake gently moving in the breeze as I sit there takin’ a break with your song in my mind.
You’ve done a fine, fine job here IMHO.
It was and is a pleasure to listen to !!

I’m reminded of an earlier comment that it would be a fine tune to have on the radio cruisin’ along the highway…gotta agree !

Well, you know, I guess it really should be :-)

I'm very happy with how this song turned out.
I was tempted to keep adding more tracks to it (organ, etc) but I decided against it.

Thanks for listening!

Actually Cranberry Fields Forever should be about New Jersey - LOL.

Here’s the video - St George’s Lake
