Now, I don’t like the stuff myself, but can anyone see the contradiction here?

We make me laugh sometimes too Willy… I figure one can either laugh about it or cry about it. I’d rather laugh.

D – won’t be writing my Congressman though… I don’t think he can read.

I just slowly shake my head.

Folic acid is getting promoted as the thing to have in your food if your preggers over here.

What’s the old Walt Kelley quip? “If I could write, I’d write to my congressman, if he could only read.” :)

Anywa, it’s ridiculouos, I like Vegemite.

Eyup!

Isn’t SUET also banned in the US?

(I know, but it’s been a while since I last talked about it :D )

Steve

Oh no… if they banned SUET, they would have to shutdown all the McDonalds!

“Would you like fries with your McSuet sir?” :D

D

this is getting serious: http://www.savevegemite.com

fwiw, I never liked it either. But c’mon, folate is good for you.
I guess big Pharm just doesn’t want people to get toooo healthy…

Folic Acid, Acidopholis, hmmm, wait a sec, Drug Companies/Drug Lords, Drug Salesman/Pushers, hmm, big botta boom money either way. The war on drugs, yeah right. :(

Legal is as legal does!

Where are the topless ladies? :D

Well, well, well. Three holes in the ground. Back to your deep fried lard guys.

As usual in US government, it sounds like the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Big shocker there man… NOT!

Hi guys I contacted Kraft yesterday…

Dear BC,

Thank you for contacting Kraft Foods via our website feedback form.

Kraft actually stopped exporting Vegemite to the USA about 12 months ago
after the US FDA ruled that Vegemite’s folate fortification was not allowed
under US regulations, which stipulates folate fortification only in certain
kinds of foods (which did not include spreads like Vegemite). However, US
consumers may still purchase Vegemite from a number of online US-based
retailers and I have checked these websites today & they stock various sizes
of Vegemite.

Australian Catalogue Company www.aussiecatalog.com
Aussie Products www.aussieproducts.com
Everything Australian http://www.everythingaustralian.com/ausfood.html

I hope this explains to you why normal Vegemite supplies can no longer be
found on supermarket shelves in the USA. While we appreciate that our
decision to end exports to the US has disappointed a number of our loyal
consumers and expatriates in the US, the good news is that consumers may
still obtain Vegemite through the online sales links given above.

We thank you for visiting our website and if you require any further
assistance concerning this issue please do not hesitate to contact our
Consumer Advisory Service via email at australia@kraftasia.com.

Kind regards
Deanne Pownall

Yet, we can go down the the local “health” store and buy gosh-knows-what unregulated and nearly unlabeled supplements. Yep…that’s the US for you. It takes a well publicized death to get anything done about some of those products. (Remember ephedrine?)

Wait till the USFDA finds out how much mercury is in Cod Liver Oil…

I like my Cod Toungs and Cod Liver Oil… I guess I’ll have to stay a Cannuck… Bluenose’r… :O

According to the FDA… What’s not right about Vegemite… anyway??

Bill…

Heh. The FDA will let 'em sell Twinkies in the US… how 'bout this…

I was out getting coffee yesterday and a friend was telling me about a research study that one of her fellow students is doing.

Apparently, this guy has gone out and buried dozens and dozens of Twinkies in various areas of the United States. Every six months, he goes back and checks the level of decay in the Twinkies (they were buried without the wrappers). So far, there has been VERY MINIMAL decay, and he has been doing this project for the past six years.

Also, he’s been doing a study with rats involving Twinkies. He feeds one group of rats Twinkies for the span of their lives, and the other group he feeds regular healthy rat food. When the rats die, he buries them, and then goes back to check periodically on the state of their carcasses. The rats that have been fed healthy food are all but skeletons now; but the rats he fed Twinkies are in PERFECT CONDITION!!! Again, he’s been doing this for SIX YEARS!

D – eat Twinkies! Last for eternity! Well at least your 50-60 year old FAT, skanky, bloated, Twinkie body will…
