Maritime Express

The Glory Train

Hi Gents:

I’ve been working in the studio and re-mastering some stuff we did back in the early-to-mid '90’s in the old L&B Studio on the new DJ Desk, I have, in the studio… It was done
back in the summer of '95
on a Teac 38 8-track deck…
This weekend I got busy and re-mastered it on n-Track, build 2573…

Maritime Express and The Glory Train
was the project’s title…

Anyway, we sold this stuff in cassette form back then by the box full off the stages we played on…

Then the Front Man
Donny and the steel guitar player (Leonard) got cancer and they’re not with us anymore…
sigh…

Bill…

Good stuff Bill.

Funny how things go. My life long drummer mate decided to use alcohol to help him forget how to use stares - 42 and out.
Bass player - chemically induced insanity and now residing in la la land.
Hey-ho.

Bill, that is wonderful. If I were granted a personal request, it’d be that you set up a bandcamp.com account so we could have the files in FLAC. :)

Hi TonyR and TomS:

Thanks for the replies to this thread…
Too bad Donny and Leonard aren’t here to reply to the thread…
Donny would have something smart to add to the reply…
What a character he was…
When he got going he liked it Dark-and-Dirty…
:)
:p
 Leonard was a Straight-and-Dry kind of guy…
They were two opposites, on the stage… When Leonard cracked any jokes, you had to pay attention…
He never repeated them…

However, they fit the occasion…
Bob Monroe just was too straight laced…
Way too serious…
The drummer was great to work with…
BUT Leonard would never get him to count a song…
IN…
Leonerd said he couldn’t count beyond ThReE…

What-a-Stage…
lol

Bill…

I must be missing something…
What’s this FLAC you’re talkin about ?

FLAC - a lossless compression format, Free Lossless Audio Codec. On bandcamp.com, you upload the songs as full 16/44 wav files, specify if you want to allow downloads for free or for money, and fans get the files in formats from good mp3 up to FLAC.

More on FLAC here:

Hi Gents:

It’s late for me to be up, over here…
Anyway, the Van/Chg. game is on…
I need to throw my coat hanger out the window and see what kind of game, they are playing…
My favorite team (the Habs) are doing O.K.
with Crosby and Team…
I’m somewhat surprised to see them at One-and-One…
If I was a betting person I’d have to admit and say Pittsburgh is gonna win the series…
We’ll see…

Anyway, I’ll pursue that FLAC format TomS…

After loading those files up on SoundClick and streaming them on-line, I’d have to say they are somewhat on the HOT/Upper Level End of the scale… They didn’t appear to be like that here…
before they got loaded on the SoundClick Page…
I think I might play with the files and reload them…
Maybe, on the weekend…
We’ll see…

Bill…

p.s.
That’s quite a marketing ploy that’s going with that Beatles’s Library…

Hi TonyR:

That’s quite a story you tell with your Bass Mate…
Things like that continue to happen with musicians and all, from every walk of life…
It’s so sad to hear those stories…
I continue to struggle with …
Why some people are taken like that while others continue through life abusing themselves to no-end…
and others treat themselves with the best of care and they are taken…
There appears to be no-rhyme-or-reason to life…

I truly believe that, when your number is called you have no choice in the matter…

Anyway…

Bill…

Hi TomS:

I’ve got a Bandcamp Page up-and-running…
I don’t have any files uploaded yet…
I’ve been working on the HOT Level issue…
I have it cured … I think…

Can you give me a one paragraph seminar on what-and-how I should post up there ????
I posted the jewel case liner…
However, it don’t look like what I’d like to see… yet…

Here’s a link to what I have there, so far…

Bandcamp/Maritime Express link

AaHh…
I just have the opening ID and password to get to the page…
I am unable to show you what I have there till I supply the ID and Password…
I don’t have any music files there…
yet…

Bill…

Back Again:

Gents…
I think I have a page up-and-running…

send me a PM if you are interested in seeing and offering some constructive comments and I’ll reply to you with an ID and Password…

Maritime Express log on page

I have discovered that I don’t have to supply an ID and Password to download the music files… However, I am still looking for comments on refining this page… for those of you who migh be able to offer some suggestions on how I could proceed with whatever else I need to address…

This is all pretty much cutting edge to me…

In the meantime, I’ll post another song up there…

Thanks for the push TomS…

Bill…

One thing I would do is put all of the songs in one album, so that they can be downloaded all at once. The option is somewhere on the edit song page. It walks you through it pretty nicely.

Bill, thanks for doing this, I can totally hear the difference in quality, and it is so much more satisfying to hear good quality audio. Your pedal steel guy was good. I love that sound.

Hi TomS:

Thank you for the reply…
This happened all so fast…
I’ll explore this site and see if I can understand what’s up there…
As with all styles of music, there’s so much disipline to adhere to.
These guys showed little if any desire to consider playing with the recipe they imagined…

These Steel Guitar Players are a community unto themselves…
I don’t know what goes through their minds…
:p
Don’t be asking them…
either…

There is a guy over in the UK somewhere that is one of the better examples of Steel Guitar Players… David Hartly in my opinion is one of the better Steel Players that I’ve discovered…
He spends much time with his setup…

If you find it, play Highway 40 Blues…

If I keep working at it, maybe someday I’ll discover what is technically required to track-and-mix this stuff…
We’ll see…
:p

Bill…

Hi TomS:

I’ve been looking around that Bandcamp Edit Page…
I need some walking through what you’re describing… I didn’t yet see how you combine the songs to an album…
Unless I’ve overlooked the EDIT Command…
That’s possible…

Anyway, I’ve been building this P-4 DJ Desk computer…
The operating system is XP…
The machine is an old P-4 I had laying around…
The Main board is an ASUS P4P800 SE…
1.7 Intel processor with 1 Gig of slow ram…
It never worked right when it was new…
It still don’t work right…

I am unable to get the Ethernet setup…
I’d like to be able to go online and bring the XP operating system up-to-current… Gettin this computer up-and-running is a total waste of time…
I think…

I should be out pickin dandylions…
:p
:)

Bill…

Go to a song, hit the edit button, and almost at the top, right under where it says "replace’ should be an option that says “Part of an album, EP, or what have you.” Check the box and I’m pretty sure it will walk you through the creation of an album. Then go to each song and add it to that album the same way.

Hi TomS:

Thanks for the information…
This morning I opened the page and began to have a peek around and started the process…
I’ll look later on thius afternoon to see how the progress is proceeding…

I’ve been working on the XP/P-4 machine…
I have the operating system validated and wel;l on it’s way for the machine to become the DJ Desk’s Computer…
I found a way the install the Ethernet Controller…
I now have all the latest Microsoft Updates loaded and I’m continuing to load applications on the machine for this DJ Desk…
So far, I’m pretty pleased with how this machine is running…
I have my fingers-and-toes crossed…
:)
:p

So-Far-So-Good… :agree:

Bill…

p.s.
By the way, I’m replying to this thread on this DJ Machine…
