See how bad you really are

This is actually a series of MP3 files that play a little synth riff with a drum beat. They plays four measures then rests two and then four measures.
The trick is to play along and be VERY steady so you are right with the riff and beat when it starts back.
No…it’s not nearly as easy as it sounds…especially at the slower tempos.
Faster is better to cover up bad timing.
A simple but elegant solution.
Hi Phoo:
Those are beautiful practice chopps for drummers and bass players…
I haven’t even opened up the link… But I know if you are playing all the time…
on the road in the bars and in the studios you need those chopps to be at your best… If you can do that and be “ON Time” without thinking about it then you can concentrate more on the notes you want to play, if you’re a bass player …
if your a drummer you may well concentrate on how to get in-and-out of lines with out speeding up or slowing down… Bass players have a habit of speeding up or slowing down at the same time while it comes off as over-playing…
It takes much discipline-and-concentration…
not to get caught up in it…
I’ve been away from it for so long…
it’s sinful…
You are one stellar bass player drummer team if you can pull that off without missing measures and
speeding up and slowing down… After doing it night-in and night-out and do it without thinking you make it look so easy…
That’s when you’re at the top of your game…
Bill…
