MIDI notes from keyboard stack up on left side?

Build 2459

Hi,

I’m not sure if this is a new problem or not because I don’t deal with MIDI a lot.

I can get n-track to record midi notes from my keyboard. I’m not a good keyboardist so I make mistakes and use the erase tool. The notes are placed correctly. Then every once in awhile when I am done recording a new take I look up and all the notes are stacked on the left hand side of the piano roll! With no settings changes by me! What’s up with that?

Paul

Could mean you are one heck of a keyboardist after all

I think folks may need some more details here. Can you provide a
screen shot? Are you using takes?

From the Manual

1.4.3. Re-recording portions of a track

The new recording is placed into a new Take and both the old and the new take will appear stacked on top of each other. You can switch between the old and the new take simply by clicking on the waveform the of take you want the track to play. Read more on Takes and Lanes.

Why is it I am not getting replies! I have to check in manually.

Nope not using Takes. The weird thing is it comes and goes. Just imagine every note you just played all stacked up in a 1/32 note way on the left hand side of the piano roll, but per note played. Next time it happens (which is quite often) I'll take a screen shot.

It’s tough to diagnose MIDI probs. What I would try first is download
Virtual Midi Keyboard here,

http://www.granucon.com/vmk.html

and use this for activation

Name: Freeware Edition
Serial: 6MMLKPK51L086P44PO59P47221287530

You would have to use MIDI Yoke (google it) install it, set VMK to output
on MidiYoke 1 and nTrack Midi track to accept midi data from MidiYoke 1.
(Just sending midi data from VMK to nTrack)

Use your keyboard (the one you type on) to record midi to a track.

This is to see if you possibly have a controller problem. I had a bad
or sticking controller that was intermittently sending out midi info.

If you can record correctly using VMK, I would suspect your controller may
have a problem.

Other possible sources, could be auto-quantize on or some other MIDI setting
in N - like Midi echo - hard to tell. But lets make sure it’s not hardware
first.
