Flavio - you promised me drag an drop midi clips - don’t get everyone else excited like this until I’m happy!
Dear Flavio
THANKYOU is a small word for such GREAT additions to V6 -
n Track V6, is the fastest production tool in my studio, sure other DAWS may have a cazillion more featuress, but when it comes to GETTING THE JOB DONE, V6 beats the lot by a country mile AND N outputs a quality of audio that leavs the others sounding plain DULL -
been with n Track since V3 - the improvments in V6 are akin to the difference between the launching of Sputnik and a mission to Mars - fantastic -
yours sincerely, THE Magic Rabbit
Yea yea yea - suck up all you want but I need to drop midi clips into tracks at will.
After reading a few of Flavio’s comments here… I think many feature requests we have asked for will require a fairly serious rework departing from the way he has handled both audio and MIDI tracks in past and current versions. There is no doubt that he can do it, it’s going to take a bit of time I think.

for those who are unaware of the MIDI clip problem -
yes you can drag n drop MIDI clips from anywhere into N track BUT as POPPA and many have found out they dont remain as clips any more, they form a single track and the clips cannot be moved any more without affecting the rest of the track - this should be easy for Flavio to resolve and i totally agree with PW it is a badly needed inprovement -

As Dubious said supporting MIDI clips is not as straightforward as one might think. As far as reworking... almost every new feature added to n-Track (or to any software in general) requires a certain amount of reworking (refactoring in software terms), unless it is quite disjoint from other areas of the programs, such as for example a Navigator window might be. What one should strive for is not to try to design things so that they don't have to be reworked, but more along the lines of designing things that are easy to be reworked.
That said I'll try to squeeze the MIDI clips feature in v6.0.3.
Flavio.
LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT YOUR "PART MUTES’ IN THE LATEST BETA
NOT QUITE RIGHT YET - if i have three parts in one track - muteing part one mutes all three, muting part two mutes parts two and three, part one plays OK - muting part three mutes only part three, parts one and two play OK - the parts themselves show they are muted correcly - cant be too much wrong for Flavio to fix so that only the parts that are muted are the only ones that are muted and the other parts in the track play OK -

Yes, there seems to be some problems with the mute part function in v2408. But after some playing around with it I think this will be a quite useful addition to n. Perhaps there could be another/additional way of displaying that a part is muted? Now the muted part is shaded, and it looks almost the same as when just selecting a part.

The problem should be fixed in build 2409.
Stratos, I'll try to choose a more visible color overlay for muted parts in the next build, and I'll make it skinnable so that it can be customized.

Build 2409: the part mute function seems to work as intended now. At least on my small test song.
