Is there any way to mute the original recording during punch in? I’ve been recording a local band and we where putting down the bas to some songs yesterday and I had to cut out the part I wanted to fix from the first take so that it wouldn’t interfere with the punch in. Is there any other way to do this?
You can highlight the bad section, then click Edit > Silence selection > Put volume 0.
This will essentially draw a volume envelope at that section.
Also, instead of using the punch in feature, you may just want to record the new parts to different tracks.
It makes it a little easier to keep track of the different takes.
