N. 6.9 only records in one ear...

Hi all…long time…

I just installed the latest N and when recording I get output in one ear.
On playback the sound is central but there are two tracks. One is very low in volume.

Probably a simple thing but…any solution guys?
Cheers

Hi Craig.
So? Are you getting stereo VU meters readings.
Was eveything ok yesterday or/and before you up-dated n-T?

I guess you have checked to see that the input is setup to record stereo? If not, on the Record VU the Hammer Icon brings up the selections.

Hi Tony
Brand new pc with a complete new installation!..

However…

Bax my good man…thanks for that. I’m more a plug and play man than a twiddle and tweak…
You hit the nail on the head. The problem has gone now I’m recording mono.

Hi Gents…
and
Hi spreadercraig:

I’m at build 2599…

Something is developing with this dual processor machine… Vista Home Premium is the Operating System, with all Windows Updates…
I have multiple choices of selecting audio hardware and drivers to compliment the hardware, in this machine…

This has only begun to happen with-in the last 24/48 hours…

It appears I’m only able to hear the left side of the audio line outputs of any choices/selections and combinations of hardware-and-drivers unless it happens to be a Windows Based application… Then, both Left-and-Right audio is heard…

Trying to select any combination of audio hardware and drivers within n-Track produces a “CRASH”…
BLUE SCREEN with memory dump… I attempted to boot into SAFE Mode…
BUT then I find not all drivers are even loaded using SAFE Mode…
Could the issue have something to-do with the Net Framework application(s) ???? I don’t have “NET Features” selected on any machine I have n-Track installed…

I’m working on trying to pin-point just what area the issue is centered in from this perspective-and-machine…

I haven’t booted to Studio Vista Machine lately…
and I’m still putting the DJ XP Machine together…
SO…
I don’t know at what state these machines are in, with this…

???
???

Bill…

p.s. Yes TonyR… Both left-and-right VU Meters show that something is present in the repro…

Hi Gents…
Back Again:

I’m in the studio and posting this reply on the XP/P-4 Machine…

Another issue that I’ve noticed with the Dual Processor Vista Machine in the house is…
In the preferences…
I have selected the box to reload/play the last song on start up/opening n-Track…
When I re-launch n-Track, the Timeline is empty, or no song/project is in the timeline…
As well, in the preferences, there is the option to select the track colour…
The default colour is always “Gray”…
I find that I am unable to select a default colour, on re-opening n-Track… I am unable to select the audio hardware or drivers from the “Record menu” However, I am able to select the Hardware and drivers from the “Play” menu, but a check mark does not appear.

I’m checking/working on this issue as I type this reply on the XP Machine…
At this moment I need to enter the control panel to change the Play-and-Record hardware Close n-Track and then, reboot the computer…

I’ll post this reply and then reboot and come back to see if that command has worked…

Bill…

Back Again:

After much searching and adjusting to get the default built-in audio that on the ASUS Motherboard to play the file on the n-Track timeline I got the re-play to run…
However, only on the “Right” channel…
If I pan the mixer strip to the “Left” channel NO Audio appears…
The Left Channel n-Track VU Meter shows a deflection, but nothing on the LEFT channel…
???
???

The n-Track Meters and Pan Controls on the Channel Strip and Master Strip are correct…

NO Blue Screens…

It’s getting confusing…
I’m at build 2604…
I’m gonna revert to build 2599…
Now, I trying to remember what the issue was that got FIXED with build 2599…
??? ?
Does anyone remember ????

Bill…

I’ve been working pretty steady at this issue…
I reverted back to build 2599 from build 2604, on the Vista Intel Dual Processor, E-5200 Machine, in the house.

I still have the audio hardware and driver selection with-in n-Track…

Both Left-and-Right audio output channels work on all the audio hardware…

Craig

1.
Tilt head to opposite direction of ear not hearing said output so ear is facing up.
2.
Pour one capful of Hydrogen Peroxide in ear.
3.
Allow solution to foam and bubble and tickle for 10 minutes.
4.
Straighten head and allow solution to drain onto shirt.
5.
Use bobby-pin or toothpick to dislodge chunk of loosened earwax.
6.
Retry playback and experience Eureka-moment.

Hi Flanders: Part Deux:

Good advise, there..

That happened to me just last week..
I had to visit the Doc's Office to get him to fix it..
The saying is..
ear wax is a natural occurrence..
It has something to do with helping to protect the ear nerves from infections and all..

The guy I work with has this saying about not putting anything bigger than your elbow into your ears..
I keeps you from damaging your hearing..

Anyway, I was fixing my ears using cotton swabs that day and twisting out the ear wax.. Well...
it happened..
The cotton didn't come out with the stick..
I tried everything..
The only thing I didn't try was, a fire cracker..
SOOO..
off to the Doc..
I went..

After telling him my story, in my best Bluenose, he knew exactly what I did and how he was goin to fix it..

All his tools are stainless steel..
A big syringe (looks like a grease-gun) and a curved soup bowl to sit on your shoulder..
Along with the best hooch he can find in his cupboard..
What a waste..
:)
It sounded like crushed gravel hitting the curved soup bowl, as it was comming out..
Anyway, again, I could hear..
I want him to do the other ear..
No-Way, he said..
SO....
I still have unblanced hearing..

I've reverted back to build 2599 with my setups..
All appears fine with my setups, now.
The one machine began creating .dmp files that I sent off to Flavio..

Something happened.. I'm not quite sure what it is..
Maybe Flavio with figure out what it was..

Could it have been some malware or virus got into those machines ????..
Norton 360 says NO..
:(
???
The other saying is..
if you hang around then porn sites your machines can pick up anything..
:) hehe

Bill..
