n-Track Studio v2518 Released

Mono Sidechain VST 2.x fix

n-Track Studio version 6.0.6 2518 Released

Notes: Fixed mono sidechain not working with VST 2.x plug-ins [Bug Fix]

PACO

Having a couple problems with 2518 with regard to Aux sends:
1) I tried to playback an old song created a number of revs back.
It has numerous

channels that send to Aux 1.
When I start to play the song, I get some wild feedback

sounds, and I see it on the playback VU and the Aux 1 VU.

I switch back to 2516 and it works fine.

2) I can’t seem to get a new track to send sound to the Aux channels.
I switched back to

the oldest rev I have 2513 and still can’t get it to work.

I selected the channel output, and aux 1.
Turn up the aux 1 channel vol and master

return, but nothing.
In the older revs, there was a send to aux channel 1, but not

on the newer revs I have.
In the old song I still have old tracks I created revs ago

that show they are sent to aux 1, and have the send to aux faders.
They work

in 2516 (feedback noise in 2518).

New tracks do not seem to provide the send to aux faders.

I also created a new song and still could not get an audio track to goto the aux

channels.

I remember a discussion on this and I do not know where the returns are in the default mixer. However, if you right click on an open space in the mixer you get a pop up menu that includes “Layout” click that and select “Horizontal Mixer and Auxs” This will change the layout to the older style where the Aux Sends and Aux Returns are as they used to be.
Maybe someone knows where the returns are in the new menu - I don’t.

Thanks bax3, I have gotten the aux channels in place.
But in the old, there was
a fader at the channel you assigned to aux 1, and that is what I no longer see.
I select channel output on a track, select aux and then aux 1 and it says it is
assigned to aux 1.
I goto the aux 1 section, ensure the faders are up, but nothing
is getting there.
I have tried right click all over the place, I gotta be missing some
simple thing to bring up the channel send fader for the aux?

For the other proble, oddest thing I have heard so far.
I norrowed it down to 3 tracks.
Silence the 3.
Un-silence 1 of the 3 bad tracks that is just a short vocal in middle of tune, has pod
farm effects compressor and verb, and I get feedback like you hear on stage when I mic
is feeding back.
But load same song in rev 2516, an no problem.
Un-silence the other 2 bad tracks and the entire collection of vu meters go extreme red,
and the sound is something like “squeal like a pig”.
The 2 tracks are clones of 2 tracks
that don’t have the problem.
The clones and parents feed aux 1.
No problem with rev 2516.

are the tracks mono or stereo? if they are mono try expanding to stereo. see if that does anything. I've gotten squeal from mono plugins, but that was fixed sometime in the last beta.

but that could be way off track.

Thanks for the input nramusic.

Yes, I have it turned up. I have also gone over all recent posts that reference “aux”, no luck yet. But if no one else is having the issue, I must be doing something wrong, I’ll figure it out.

No, they are all stereo, and the exact same song works perfectly if I reinstall older n-track rev 2516. I will try to water the song down to create a demo
of the problem and submit as a bug report.

It would be great if you could submit a bug report with an attached .sgw file that shows the problem, possibly without the pod farm plugins which I don't currently have access to.

Thanks,
Flavio.

Flavio, I reduced the song to 5 tracks that still produced the feedback
and strange meter spiking sounds. But each also used the Pod Farm
plugin for sound processing. When I turned off the Pod Farm plugins, the
problems went away. So I deleted the Pod Farm plugins from each track,
and then re-applied them to each track with same settings and all the
noise problems were gone.
So somewhere between rev 2516 and 2518 something changed in the way n-track
deals with some pre-existing effects plugins. I haven’t heard of any other
complaints, so maybe it was just a matter of some unique effects chaining
I was doing that tripped this up.
Anyway, deleting and reapplying the effects seems to have fixed it.
