New mini studio.

There are some nice old toys on those photos you two have posted…
I have a Teac 38 1/2" deck…
with the same transport of the one you have…
TomS…
Does your machine use 1/2" tape?

Bill…

No, 1/4 inch. Or is it 1/2 inch? HellifIcanremember… Sort of tells you how long it has been. Or how old I am getting…

I will look at the tape in the morning.

Tony - TOA is a weird company. I have a 1970s TOA compressor. Distortion monster. Was supposed to be used on program material, perhaps for high school radio stations, at least that’s about the quality. Huh - can’t even find a picture of it on the web.

Tom’s TEAC is 1/4"

I’ve got a Teac 3340, Tascam 80-8, and Tascam 32.
Couldn’t live without them for a long time.
Most of the tape I was using back then is too gummy to play anymore. They were getting that way 15 years ago. I suppose baking them would still work, but there’s little point these days.

Phoo! What about the stuff on those reels - have you already backed it all up?
It kills me to think of all the old material being lost to celuloid.
I once aquired a reel (assumed bulk erased) that actually contains ‘The Bay City Rollers’. Check 'em if you dare!

It was their first date on a come-back tour in Japan - and was promptly canceled.
We recorded a couple of drum tracks over it before we realised but there’s about 10 ‘songs’ in tact. The Rollers are on a stereo pair and the rest of the tracks are musicians. I think we used a Brenell 24. 1"? Any of you guys got that kind of machine?

So, that’s a prime candidate for a bootleg, eh, Tony? :)

Oh yes! More for the pension:-)
Are TOA now Harman audio?

No, I think this is still them:

looks like they mostly do stuff for installations like churches and businesses.

Something like this, Tom?

No backups at all. Some of the stuff we thought was better played was mixed to cassette. The masters are all sitting there waiting for the oven. Most isn’t worth bothering.

I’d like to get access to much of the Jubal stuff. The only things I’ve found on cassette are already posted. Ironically, the two cassettes are of one of our first concerts and one of our last. The latter was recorded in an empty club that the heater was out. It was in the upper 30’s inside and in the lower teens outside. I have no idea why we were still playing. I was playing with mittens on. Jubal did some pretty interesting stuff in between those two set.

That’s the one, Phoo!

51 bucks! It’s worth about 5 dollars as an aesthetic objected - it is musically nearly worthless! I used it to get a 70s sound when my kids wanted to record the scooby do theme, but that’s it.

S’bout time I started selling stuff on Ebay, I think. :)
