Tips for Sterio effect for 3 peice.
Hi Guys & Ladies,
I’ve just uploaded a Willie Dixon tune that I licensed for my own pleasure as well as yours.
Little Red Rooster

Hi
If you want to critique this bit of hotrod blues it would be much appreciated.
I would also appreciate any tips or tricks for getting delicious stereo for this style of music and 3 piece format.
Thx and enjoy,
Levi
Levi - sorry I didn’t comment on this yesterday - I got lost looking at your SoundClick site and listening to all your tunes. Love your groups sound. You have some great tunes posted. Really full rich sound for three guys. Thanks for the post, I got into it.
I never did get this song as a writer, and finally read the lyric you posted. I still don’t know what the heck he was talkin’ about - but the cool thing is, it don’t matter. Great job on it!
That smokes, Levi.
Not that I’m any kind of expert, but seems to me that you have only two good options for stereo. Pan some of the drums as appropriate, and use stereo ambience on the guitar and vox and centered drums (snare and kick). But I think it sounds great as it is. Tell us how you recorded stuff - including the instruments and amps used. I really like the bass and guitar sounds.
Hey PW thx for the comments. Yeah I agree I found those lyrics hard to figure to, and just realized that I posted the wrong version. I googled for um and found two versions by Willie and thought I posted the version that I sang. Not so and the one that is up on sound click is alot harder to figure lol sorry about that! With vocals, melodies and riffs work for me, especially if your moanin the blues. Beta, Rooster is in a Beta state
I just did a test run there at Sound’Click. You know popin up to number one for a day doesn’t answer the question. True you get heard by more but to me fan responce is everyghing. No comments and the song isn’t workin. Maybe I’m wrong about that.
TomS,
On LRR, guitars going through a degitech (genesis)processor, John used a line6 on his bass. Drums are from drumsite with a little bright rm (clear’coat) and metal tank. (fatter kick)
On the Hot Blues CD I used a delta 1010 and 4 mikes on Franks practice kit at his house. He just duplicated the feel of my loop, give him enough vodka and he’ll play anything no amps just the processors. And nTrack of course.
Thx for the tips I’ll experiment with some ambiance. Have a new tune that I’m just finishing up, I’ve got John’s bass the way I want it. But the guitar tone is off so I have a little more work to do on that. Doing this in the back of a Semi isn’t easy!
I think the bass should be right up there as big and bright as the guitar, equal dominating part. In fact I’m going to add the new bass tone to rooster in a few days.
Thx!!!
Nice job Levi, I would suggest listening to some old Cream LP’s for panning inspiration.

Foot Stompin "MG/Case of the Blues"?

Hey TomS aka Thomas,
You know you just might have the makings of a Big league Voice, keep after it.

Ah, you’ve mistaken me for someone else, I think…
Good cover, nice sounding snare, I should boost whole drums a little, specially kick, adding a lil more reverb. Im’not very happy with bass sound (specially when hammering to C on the riff). Guitar solo is good but sound is not well defined (maybe less wah or less drive?) I hear some billy Gibbons influence, am I right?

Hey Jaz,
Thx, that's want I want to hear. Cut into it, it's the only way to make it better.
Billy Gibbons? Well I dig all his stuff and I'm always hearing his name associated with my sound but I think he and I went to school on the same pickers. And we are both use amps cranked. The foundation for the style is out of the Delta really.
I'm getting ready to change the bass sound. Brining up the level for one and brightening a little. What specifically don't you like about the tone. I'm limited here with my monitors.

Appreciate it Jazo,
Levi
You have a lot of options for stereo… first off… pan something, Dear Lord, pan something! There is no reason for the drums to be mono first off. The bass and vocals can sit dead center no problem, but the guitar can be moved off to one side, have some delay added to them… In all this is a very flat recording (That is not a comment on any sort of performance), so I would be interested to know what you did and how you recorded it.

Hi Bubba thx for chimin in,
I record them all a little different. But usually I record the guitar and vocal when I feel comfortable with an arrangement. To a click track. On this one; I used my guitar to write a simple complementary bass part. Got a bass player off the net to record the bass part and mail it to me. Developed the drums first so he had plenty of spirit to work with. Thats about it. Don't have the luxury of a band and that ebb and flow.

Well, I can’t help you then. You gotta work… it doesn’t happen any other way.
