I need a free plugin for a big job of easing down room noise from my storyteller guy.

School classroom bkg noise - EQing is just a nightmare - I get close but thought I’d see if there was any users out there that had one they use…

Anyone?

Yup. It does a fantastic job at this. I just about totally removed the HVAC “room noise” from an acoustic guitar track with it. It was a PITA because of the rumble and the “air” you could hear. I didn’t use the noise profile grabbing feature though. I just manually swept the filters around to find an acceptable compromise. It turned out great though.

I used to use Audition for just about all “clean-up” jobs, but I’ve just about abandoned it because of ReaFIR.

Goldwave has a plugin that’ll reduce unwanted noise…
The latest version is 5.25…

I use wavepad

You grab a sample of what you don’t want…then it just takes that out of the whole file.

Not sure if the free version has this feature though. It may do (may be a 30 day version)

Thanks phoo - but this is a major project - 22 stories told in classroom setting - lots of air conditioning and room noise. I’ll get it - just didn’t count on working so hard at it.

Remember that you don’t necessarily need to go dead silent. Sometimes just lowering the noise a few db can make a HUGE difference in perception.

Yea phoo - I hear ya. The noise floor is sooooo high though. I played him my first “draft” of noise reduction a and b ing it and he was happy - but I have many hours to go and I know it can be better.

The website goes live in 6 weeks and I have a month minimum to get these all edited (cough-bookdrop) and processed and sit ready. Mr. Sages Stories

The reason is - this will probably give you an idea of your best expectation of
removing (broadband) noise like air flow which is very difficult to remove because it's
across the whole spectrum. Ya know so you won't be chasing something that's not
achievable.
