PCI express card slots

Could surprise you!

For those of us who are are used to and comfortable with pci card slots.
Be careful.
What you expect as normal might not show up there.

My problem.
A new big fast computer that doesn’t have pci slots. I wouldn’t expect there to be none!
But this computer has a pci express slot instead.
I love the computer but might have to switch it out.
I have a few days to decide.

Options:
Hunt down my mAudio receipt
if it still exists, to get a reasonable upgrade from mAudio.
That is if the mother board on the new computer will clock down to 33 MHZ.

Other wise I’ll have to return the computer and hope that I can find one around the same price with the same or equal bad/arseness.

3rd option, get a lesser 24 bit soundcard supporting pci express.
:D

Levi. Suppose you could daisy-chain through the machine with slots?

This is why for my last computer upgrade I also planned to upgrade the interface. :sulk:

I’ve been noticing that too.
I want to upgrade and was looking to put together a system that still had a
PCI slot option.
The MainBaords can be rather pricey though.
The one I was looking at has 2 PCI slots.

Levi -
I don’t know if you want to try replacing your MB. Might be cheaper in the
long run.

The thing is - it’s a mess all around. You get some benifits at the expense of
having to upgrade/replace something else.

Hi Tony thx for the idea, hmmm?
Prob not,
but looking at it a diffrent way, group sex might be a great option

You got it Tommy!
It’s got to be because of all those fireware interfacing’s.
So popular with the general musician population.
:agree:
That’s another option.
This thing has more usb slots than Las Vegas!
Ya I know Tommy, drop a few quarters

7 all I can tell you, is, with 6 gigs of ram I can load up 24 tracks and apply 5 heavy pro level effects or more!
To each track including the master track.
Open a track dialog box drag and drop any eq draw noid while the output vu is lit up, the mixer is open and all lit up.
Midi inst playing and the ntrack parmetric eq up and adjusting that.
This computer doesn’t care, purrs along at around 25 cpu with that huge load. That’s a ton of effects I don’t need, I got tired of adding more for the test.
And the ram is upgradeable to 16 gigs.
Ha!
That makes me giddy!
Talk about getting some work done!
I’m going to try to work with the Pci express, will know more tomorrow. Although that mother board your looking at looks great. That is a good option too!

7, that’s a cool link thx! I might have to try that memoryOk tool on my old comp. :agree:

Levi -
What are you using? That sounds like an awesome setup.
Are you using Win 7?
Intel or AMD?
Which processor / what speed?
What flux modulator? oops too much Star Trek

Nothing fancy just a mid grade HP that had good reviews offering some power;
intel dule core processor intel HD graphics 6gig ddr3 sys memory. 1 terabite hd.
I’m not pro so I only wanted to upgrade a little from what I had.
This makes editing, mixing and mastering with ntrack effortless.
This computer will not see the internet and I’ll probably build it up.
But in the past with my delta 1010 I only recorded 3 different drummers and now that I’ve discovered Addictive drums I just don’t see a need to do more than track in stereo one instrument at a time.
But I’m looking at this for fun jam recordings with buddys.
How is usb working these days?
TASCAM MID SIZE
I need an interface that I can set beers, burgers and coffee cups on
I’ll probably hang on to my delta 1010 and record group sessions with my other comp when needed.

Oh yeah 7 win 7 premium.
<----Hmmm? rubbing chin!
Seems nice.
Not sure if it’s as smart as vista for files and comp management tho
This comp also has a nice feature for burning labels on to the disks themselves from within.
No additional hardware needed. Just a specific type of cd.
That’s about it in a nut shell.
Not quite like a barrel of monkeys or a box of kittens but still a lot of fun.
Much better than waking the neighbors with all that disgusting cussing  I’m considering giving away a free box of comdums with each cd purchase because of all the money I’ll save on cd labeling

Yeh - that Light Scribe or whatever they call it. You can make some nice
looking CD’s to pass around to the BIG FISH.

Addictive is outrageous - better than EZ or Steven Slate. But I haven’t
tried Superior Drummer II - it’s probably on a par with Addictive.

That Tascam looks nice.
- I just got the FireStudio Mobile (PreSonus)

It’s pretty sweet if you have one of the accepted FireWire chipsets.
But I need more horsepower for plugs/effects. So I’m either gonna get
that ASUS P6X58D for a desktop setup. Or go to a notebook (less noise)
I’m looking at the Dell Studio XPS 16. It’s got everything I need.

Thx for you comments 7 this all adds up to help some others some day searching for pointers.
Your firestudio offers alot for a small box. I noticed that the phone vol nob doesn't go to 0. Do you hear anything at 1? Wondering why they used 1-11, interesting.

Holy Cow - I didn't see that. But yeh you're right. Maybe they were thinking
Marshall or something. But no - I don't hear anything til I get at least
halfway.

Really? You hear something at the 50 yrd line?
Hmmmmm?
Have you tried listening to anything played backwards yet?
???

:O Smearing cony island dogs all around my face

When you put it up to 11 - there’s a message that comes on that
says ‘You’re Too High’

:) Yeah I get that "I'm to loud" aleart all the time 7
:agree:
I just tried the LightScribe labeler.
U R right!

Thought I would test it.
Used a pic of Jennifer Lopes laying on a couch petting a tiger for the background
