Recording from MIDI track in song when there are mutlitple MIDI tracks

If there is more than one MIDI track in the song, is it possible to record from one without input from the others? For example, if, say three others have so many notes that together they exceed my (old) synthesizers limit, then the track I’m trying to record cuts out. This occurs even if I mute the other MIDIs

I’m having to remove MIDI parts from the song file, something I’d rather not do.

In Preferences / Settinngs the is a check box to “read track if muted”. Try unchecking that.
