hate to say this guys and gals but i just struggled to get down a big piece of strawberry cheesecake. unfortunately i'm still losing weight. the va is sending a dietician in next week to try to recommend more intake. if i continue to lose they will have to put a feeding tube through my abdomen and i really don't want that.
My youngest daughter had to go the feeding tube route. I'm not sure how much it helps in gaining weight, but I know it helped keep her from losing more. She fought against the idea until her doctor assured her the "button" would be covered by her clothing and no one would be able to tell she had one. Having said that, I'm hopeful the dietician can help fatten you up, Don.
When the docs said I’d need a feeding tube when I was getting radiation - I drew the line there. Lost 80 pounds gained back about 40. I HATE ENSURE Don
Yeah... and make SURE that gravy is the real deal made out of pig meat and pig meat juice. That fake crap ain't worth eatin' anyhow...
A whole pack of bacon for breakfast, three eggs, and three or four biscuits with pig gut gravy... that'll stick to yer ribs... and your stomach, back, thighs etc... Why... the crud that'll stick in your arteries alone will add a couple or three pounds!
Don't forget a big ol' glass of moo-juice... none of that 2% crap either... high-octane moo-juice. That's the stuff.
The only true biscuits’n gravey you can get is in a truck stop in the middle of Tennessee…
Then there’s a stop in middle Mississippi west of Meridian… on the I-22 going into Jackson, if you ask nicely… you can get something pretty close to what you can get on I-40… If you’re not paying attention you can blow right by these places… You’d never know they existed…
These old gals know how to make biscuits… AND… they know what Good Gravey… is…
My Grandma used to make pretty good biscuits… BUT her gravey lacked… something…
I stopped at a diner in a little town in Ohio, Jefferson Court House (strange name for a town, but I think that’s right), and they did have biscuits and gravy. The problem was the awful taste of the water there made the gravy almost inedible. Don’t guess they ever heard of bottled water, or just going the all milk/no water route. Come to think of it, that was so long ago, not sure they even bottled water back in those days.
pw, have you tried the new butter pecan or coffee late’ ensure? they are scrumptious! they are keeping me alive. regular ensure is 250 calories and ensure-plus is 350 per 8-oz can. here in oklahoma they know biscuits n gravy. they put crumbled bacon or sausage in it and it is delicious. its usually served in the small, out-of-the-way, mom n pop cafes. you have to ask the locals where the best cafes are. there are usually a bunch of trucks parked there. yummers!
my ensure problem is all mental Don - during throat radiation I lost all taste (my taste buds were fried) Ensure tasted horrible to me but all I handle at the time. I literally begged my wife not to make me drink it… the mind goes on me - then I’ll have some. Maybe next week!
