Song writers' tool

I came across this the other day:

http://www.notoriousnotes.com/

It’s a band-in-a-box type of songwriting tool. I’ve had a play with the demo and it’s really rather good (IMO of course).

I don’t know the author other than we’ve exchanged a few emails, but he seems a genuine guy with a good product so I thought I’d share…

Hi Mark A:

It looks pretty good…
Have you played with it any?
Does it accept third party samples??

Bill…

I dunno what to think about these sorts of tools. Do they limit creativity? Seems like they might. But then, what tool doesn’t? And why would that be bad?

Some of the on-line/share multi tracking environments started to look cool a while back apart from the price.

Tom, I have a fried who writes songs but doesn't have the (multi-instrument) musical or technical skills to put together a decent enough demo. At present she uses one of the online tools (I forget which) but the results are not great, so I figure that there is a whole gamit of folks who could use something like this to build a basic demo. As long as they don't end up as cookie-cutter demos.
