I spent 2 years in the PI while in the Navy 69-71.
Well, it was Olongapo back when it was a pretty wild, but still the PI.
Subic Bay was (is) a beautiful place.
I worked Harbor Security and drove a small boat around the bay all day long.
I can't believe I complained everyday about being there.
I guess it just wasn't "home".
I would love to be able to take my wife there someday and show her where I was but that will probably never happen.
Yep, it will be a great place to retire.

Hi Cliff, Have to admit I fell in love with the Philippines and the people. Helps that the Mrs is from there of course
