Stage mics

OM5 and i5 are totally different animals...

Okay, you made me go and look. I have an OM3 and an OM5 (not i5) - both are excellent workhorse mikes but, as Diogenes has observed, are no longer as good a deal as they once were.

Still, if I were looking for an SM57 alternative I'd consider them - not a huge savings but a bit of one and darn good mikes.

EV Cobalt series mics, you can’t go wrong for the bucks!

To quote the late and great Mac, "If you can’t do the job with a bag of SM57/58’s, you can’t do the job.

Very true words.

However, he’s obviously never tried tiling a bathroom. :(

I dunno… a '57 on a gooseneck makes a dandy mortar spreader for those hard to reach areas… :D

Waste of a good mic though…

D

Don’t you start in with 57’s on a gooseneck Tim, it was photo’s of those, me, and a very adventurous young lady, that my ex-wife found on my computer, and led to my consequent divorce. :(

:D

Hmm… don’t sound like you were spreadin’ mortar there green guy… :p

D

But you can only mix the mortar with a fork.

Thanks for all the input so far (including mortar spreading lessons).

The Audix OM2 seems to be about the right price - but bottom of their range. Anyone got on comments on these mics?

Thanks
