TaskPower

PC Magazine Article

I thought this might deserve it’s own thread.
Bill Woxner had posted info about EndItAll - and I dug for it.

EndItAll 2: A True Killer App
This version has been superseded by TaskPower 2.

TaskPower 2 was superceded by TaskPower 3.

You can find it here.

Nice write up in PCMag too.

I hope you read the information - I don’t wanna post a disclaimer…

Well here I am at my DAW having spent $7.97 for TaskPower. I found two services that were hogging close to 50% of my memory from a spyware program I had thought I’d un-installed a month ago.

I really like to be able to see this info. They did a great job documenting what driver is whose etc… total control over Drivers, Tasks, Services and Applications - a simple right click gives you da pow’

I’ll let ya’ll know more later.

Hi Poppa Willis:

Thanks for opening up this thread.
This application seems as though it deserves major attention…

When guys like us (Audio Users) need all the resources we can get our hands on as we create our tracks…

When I’m editing tracks, the first indication I get that my machine (this P-111) is short on resources…
the timeline on n-Track begins to Stall/stop while the files are being “Streamed” from the hard drives… When everything is running fine, the timeline moves very smoothly across the .npk files on the timeline…

I presueme that the priority is to produce the audio that I hear without “Gaps-and-Issues”…

It seems to me that guys that report issues like this should check to see what applications are running in the background and hogging the available resources, and causing the issues they have…

Bill…

Thanks for posting the link PW. That is an interesting looking utility. I think the only way I have managed to avoid problems on my DAW machine is I have it setup to dual boot two different XP installs. One is clean, clean, clean… no network or anything. Just audio applications.

This little tool will help me out on my laptops though. I haven’t attempted to setup dual systems on either one. Laptops can be a booger to get working right with just ONE boot partition…

D

Nice one Poppa…Chanced the $7.97, visibilty of the tasks etc is great. Amazing what you don’t realise you have running sometimes!

I did the deal and downloaded that utility…
I almost considered spending the $20.00 necessary to search the PC Mag Library for utilities for the one-year period…

Anyway, I think that utility has some use on this machine for the money…

Bill…

I’ve already dropped my average cpu usage form 20% down to 8…

Well worth the money.

Hi Poppa Willis:

Now that I have the utility installed and running… AND I received confirmation of the purchase…
Is there a Registration code for it?
I saw something in my mailbox that referred to that… OR Look in my JUNK Mail for it…
OR…
Am I just thinking there is a REG Code. ????

Bill…

No reg code needed Bill - the code was your payment - only way to get it - so once you got it it’s yours.

O.K. Got it now…

Thanks…

Bill…

i use this one and its free -

Dr J

Hi DR Jackrabbit:

Thank you for that link you posted… There are some great utilities on that page.
That task manager looks great, as well…
I’m just beginning to learn how to use that one that poppa willis posted… the link to.

You know, if you can’t keep your machine “Clean” at start up time, it can cause you a lot of aggravation…

Bill…

Unfortunately, Dr. J’s program doesn’t support Vista. I may have to pry open my wallet and part with $7.95

Hi BillClarke:

I still use the original EndItAll utility…
It works with '98SE and XP Home, just fine. One-Click of the mouse button…
Great-For-Me…
However, somewhere down the road this utility that costs 7.95 is gonna take over,(on my set-up) eventually…

I charged it to my Credit Card…
It cost me 8.35 CND.

Why is that ????
The day I used my card the Loonie was worth more than the Greenback…
I think it (the Loonie) was worth 1.02 and change, on that day…
