Additional Notes:
I learned a lot about compression this time round with Ozone 4, learned a neat little trick with Ozone 3 as a final step in the mastering process. Both albums were done with n-Track so Reaper can blow me. I don’t want to or do I feel I qualify as a serious artist but I do hope you enjoy the tunes. This time around the songs are slower than my usual stuff, maybe not even good, but I really enjoyed putting it together, so I do hope you can enjoy it. So break out the good speakers a crank it up. I will. Enjoy!

i listened to the the album over lunch paco
its certainly one of the best produced home made albums ive heard…the wide stereo mix made evrything so clear (altho the bass sounded a bit boomy?)
it all had a sort of stripped down zztop feel to it which i liked & some great guitar sounds
my fave songs were moon over 0old school & ride free
i had this crazy idea it was all about you & your brothers riding to school on your bicicles till my son said it was about motorcycle gangs!
well done!

Ride Free is a great track. You should do FAWM, Paco.

The bass does boom all right. I have for a long time been searching to get enough bass in my songs, now I have too much it seems. Although, I now have a set of studio monitors, JBL2325 and the 2310 matching sub and the MSC1 Room Calibrator, my room is not treated yet so bass frequencies were difficult to get. Sure beats my old process of burning the songs to disk and then go jump in my car and listen to it on my 2350watt Pioneer system in my car and takes notes. I think my neighbors thought I was nuts going back a forth to my car to play BOOM BOOM in my car. I spent a lot of time taming down the bass, my room produces what I think is the correct tones, then when I play it back on other systems it's very strong. I'm still working out the setup and room calibration for the monitor/sub. I think once I get some room treatment and re-calibrate the system, I think I'll be closer to getting it right. My next project will be a blues album. Thank you very much for the comments.

It's all me, those are my middle names. I'm chief cook, cleaner and the only member of the band.

Just a heads up:

Due to extremely poor bass management skills caused by trying to master with new studio monitors+sub without proper acoustic room treatment the above 2 albums were mastered with extremely high bass volumes and incorrect stereo separation.

What has been done to correct this you ask? Complete re-master.
Room now fully treated with London 12 Primacoustic sound panels, bass traps and scatter panels. Attention was paid to bass management this time which included testing with Winamp against store bought MP3’s on a Z5500 Logitech computer sound system, 1000w and also tested in my car, 2250WA Pioneer system against Ramstein. The levels are much better and sound seems uniform over the different sound systems based on comparisons with store bought CD’s and MP3’s. It’s the best I can do with s.h.i.t. I have.

Please forgive my ignorance in the mastering process as I have upgraded my studio to better meet my standards. I do feel this is much better now with more balanced separation good bass. The above links have all been updated so by all means please enjoy. As always comments are welcome.

Awesome.

well its certainly lost the boominess on the bass paco & its a great sound youve got there.
is there some reverb on the bass guitar?

I didn’t add any but some, not all of them, the bass in the songs were recorded with some reverb. I made the mistake on some of them buy adding sub low tones under 50hz during recording which was difficult to control with compression during the mastering process. I know “now” not to add or record like that anymore unless I want to create sub bass tones for megawatt car stereos that shake the ground. Thank you for your comments.

im still fantasizing about listening to rammstein in my car on a 2250w sound system!

It’s a good Pioneer sound system, 2, 3 way speakers in the front doors, 2 ways in the back seat, 2, 10 inch subs in the trunk, powered by 2 amps. Yup it rocks pretty good. The one song from Rammstein that sounds the best in my car is from the album Reise, Reise and the song LOS. That combination of solid bass and clear solid acoustic guitar sounds so good to me. :)
