This I had to share

where is the outrage?

Smothered in the desire for cheaper gas prices… sadly enough… most folks will turn a blind eye on their “religion” if it means money.

PS Tom, I remember years ago reading about a turbine powered Vette. I think it was mentioned on the page your linked picture came from. Pretty amazing. Turbine powered autos could be the wave of the future if they can overcome manufacturing/materials cost and driveability issues. I volunteer to be a beta tester! If Granpa was still living, we could fuel it with some of his corn squeezin’s! :D

Tom! What do you mean by “turbines”?

Is this some new super-dooper, energy-filled breakfast cereal, or is it mayhap, the new Viagra replacement? :D

Or are you talking about those fan thingies that suck energy instead of blowing hot air? :(

(Well, we could certainly use a few of them on this forum!) :D

So what to they do? You just stick one on top of your Marshall and it starts a hummin’ ?

Please be more specific Tom, all these yells of “Turbines” are giving me a headache! LOL

Ali

EDIT: Oh, I see, turbine car engines. :(

Why not just build a society that doesn’t rely on motor cars so much, that way we may stop the critical global warming that’s happening, and the air might stop smelling of hydro-carbons (or peanut farts). :)

No Ali. He said TURBANS not turbines… :D :D (Sorry couldn’t resist) Do a Google for Turbine Autos or summat. You’ll find a bunch of data/history on the subject.

Pro’s: Fuel efficient, can run on almosy ANY flammable liquid, low parts count compared to a piston engine etc.

Con’s: Expensive to manufacture because of close tolerances and high materials cost, can run on almost ANY flammable liquid???, weird driving experience when used in a conventional automobile etc…

Much info is available for the subject. GOOOOOGLE!

TG

PS I guess a TURBAN powered auto would be one of those human drawn cart things in Kashmir or someplace. :p :p

Well, I’m certainly not “Googling” whatever that means.

I may be considered indecorous by the standards of some, but, I do have my own standards! :D

And If I cannot determine the meaning of a word using the OED, then the word is not worth knowing…

So, “Turbine” must mean “acting in a turbot like manner”; and for turbot, the OED gives:

n.
a flatfish, Scophthalmus
maximus, having large bony
tubercles on the body and head
and prized as food .
any of various similar fishes
including halibut.

ME f. OF f. OSw. törnbut f. törn
thorn + but butt 3

Hmmm, thorn butt.

So, adding it all up, it seems that “turbine” means “acting as if one has a thorn up one’s arse”.

However, I still fail to see what this has to do with renewable energy. ???

Wait! it’s all starting to come together…President Bush arse-licking the Saudi royal family…

Saudi Arabia; camels (and turbans)…camel farts, peanut farts, turbot farts, (with or without thorns up their arses)…

So, hmmmm,

Still don’t get it. :(

Is this all part of the JFK assassination conspiracy thingy? ???

Yep. JFK assassination plot. That’s IT!!

As a side note; It’s a shame ol’ JFK is not renewable. I wonder what he would think of the world today ???

TG :)

TG you got it, although as a DEE-troi-it native with inside information, the manufacturing costs would not have been a problem, once the materials problems were solved, and the inside word is that they were, pretty much. Tolerance issues were not issues in the end.

There’s a good book coming out on the subject in a few months, I’ll let you know when it is out. No, I didn’t write it! :)

Turbans, indeed. :D

TG, if JFK was alive to day, what he’d be thinking would almost certainly be…

“Hmm, it’s awfully dark in here!”

Ali :D

JFK, don’t get me started. Man of the people. Got him snuffed out. What would he think of today you say? Why are so many people becoming fat setting on their rumps, talking crap on the internet forums?

Oh wait a sec, I resemble that remark. Nevermind. :D
