Tornado coming...maybe

My son in law just called to inform me of a tornado heading in this general direction. Gotta go check out the tube and see what’s going on… maybe hide under a mattress or something.

Hi kevinmyers:

I’ve never been in-and-around that kind of weather…

However, the year I was in central Tennessee it was record heat there in mid June…
It was perfect for electrical stormes…
I am fascenated by that kind of weather…
Anyway the clouds were looking like it was gonna happen…
I rushed outside to have a gander at what was gonna take place.
The neighbours were looking pretty hard at me and what I was doing outside…
One of them said I had better come in…
They said if I stay out there it would be good odds that I’d get struck buy it and I’d catch my a** on fire…

We get electrical storms here, but not like the kind of stuff you get over there…

Bill…

Well, I’m still here, alive and well. No tornadoes touched down anywhere too close. Sounds like it hit Murfreesboro, 40+ miles away, pretty hard. Flash floods and downed trees seem to be main problem here at the moment. I am glad I disconnected my computer and music equipment though, as some kind of power surge had the lights here in the house burning especially bright there for a second or so. Not sure if I should expect another round of this later today or not.

Unplug you comp, modem, tv, and duck!

Yep bad weather heading this way too Kevin. Don’t wanna see any tornadoes, but there seems to be some bad stuff south of us.

Yep. It got REALLY nasty here too Kev. I haven’t heard of any terrible damage in the area other than lots of rain and marble size hail.

Yuck…

Ya Kevin…

My son lives in northwest Murfreesboro…toward Smyrna. Since he works til 2 a.m. in M’boro and was just rolling out of bed when his wife called. She’s a photojournalist and media specialist at the DNJ (Daily News Journal). She told him to grab the dogs and get into the safe room (bathtub) “right now”. That tornado touched down about a mile from his house. Gave him a good scare but all was okay - for him. He never had time to shut down or grab anything (guitars & stuff). Pretty lucky.

Man - that was close. Too close. I sometimes think about that sort of thing. Well, like when they were all filling sandbags along the Red River recently. I started thinking how long I would last filling sandbags to save my home. I collapsed after thinking about filling 10 bags. Better take Levi’s advice and get myself back in some sort of shape here.

You can always hide under a Les Paul. Might be a good reason to buy one.

We didn’t have tornadoes this morning as far as I know but we did have bad, BAD straight line winds. From about 0130 to about 0400 it sounded like the wind was peeling the siding off of my house. Power was out until almost 0800 and many, many parts of town STILL don’t have power. Made a heckuva of mess all around here. Trees and power poles blown all to heck and back… Sheesh… Mother Nature can be a real b!tch…

You Betcha!

Murfreesboro is still digging their way out. Almost 800 homes and other buildings demolished.

Like I mentioned before, my son and his wife live in M’boro. She works at the DNJ and her photos are here:
