Toying..

With This Idea…

Hi n-Track Board Members:

Recentlly, The Union I work-and-belong to settled a new contract…
I am due some back pay and a new hourly wage…

After the tax man gets done with sifting through my pocket … I may have a Dollar-and-a-Half that I can blow on the new studio…

As you are aware, I have an Alesis Masterlink to install …
BUT Now… I am toying with the idea of Gettig an Alesis HD24RX Turnkey Recorder and an Alesis Master Control Surface/Console… to go with it…
By-the-way…
the Masterlink unit has not been outta the box, yet…

All this is gonna run into some Three Grand USD

not wired-and-installed…

I’m still toying, with the idea…
Another idea is to go right to RADAR…
and be done with it…
OR…
Just forget all about the concept of mulit-track recording, at that level…
and wish that I had somewhere down the road…

I plan to continue using n-Track as a Multi-Track Editor…
However, this Alesis Hardware ships Steinburg LE 4 and Abelton
< spelling… with the Recorder…

What comments, if any, might you all have, regardinbg this idea I’m tossing around.,.
????
is there other hardware that I should be considering ???? as an alturnitive.

Bill…

Ferchrissakes Bill, whatever you do, get yourself a decent DSL-line first. Throw that smurfing dial-up modem out!

I dunno Bill - I would take some time and a serious look at what it is you want to set, goal wise, for your new studio, then go with the tools that would best meet that goal. If you want to do live multi-member sessions - what would you need? Stacking tracks, what would be best? I would define my goal first then take the road that best gets me there.

I do agree though - a cable or dsl connection will go a long ways towards the process.

Hi teryeah and Poppa Willis:

I’ve been mulling this move over-and-over…
This ain’t cheap…
what I’m considering…

I’m gonna back my reply up by this thought, if you will allow me to alter what I was saying and STOP at this Point-in-Time…

I’m gonna stop my reply to this thread…
However, I will allow you to see what-and-where my reply was going…
I got a knock at my door
… It was FedEX…
with a Shippment From SweetWater…
I was not expecting any Shippment from SweetWater…

I’m inspecting the Way-Bill and Peaking at several pages that is stapled together…

In order to get Jitter free and Hi-End A/D and D/A converters and Analogue Cicuitry with any Dynamic specs. you have to almost look beyond Windows or Mac Base’d hardware…
Let’s say I look at RME Windows or Mac Hardware…
Now…
I’m not a Spec Freek…
However, I am interested in decent End Product…
Lets say. RME “Eight Tracks” of analogue I/O’s…
Landed here-and-working that hardware is approaching Three Grand…
AND it’s still working
In-The-Box…
Windows or Mac…
AND still at the “Wimm” of an Operating System-and-Computer…
I’m leaning toward…
the idea of…
That’s a Bottleneck…
Turnkey…
That’s a Bottleneck, in itself…
In-the-box…
That’s

This is taking me a while to comprehend and put into perspective…

I’ll be back here…
I have a Noon-Time run that my job requires me to DO…

I’ll try to work this out in my comprehension, as to what is going on here ToDaY…

Bill…
???
:)

I gotta go now…
OR… I’ll be late for the RuN…

Now I'm curious?!

Stuff just shows up from Sweetwater? Nice. Musician’s Friend sent me some extra stuff once, and let me keep all of it free of charge, but I had ordered something. What’d you get, Bill?

I got a court summons in the mail once for a speeding ticket.

Sweetwater usually sends some candy too… I never eat it though. Mom taught me better… :p

Whatcha got Bill? A box full of Bit-O-Honey? You have our interest piqued now…

D

Laffy Taffy!

Do they get boiled peanuts up there?

Yuck. My buddy brings those back from Atlanta all the time and they are miserable little salty mush piles.

I’m with you Bubba! Boiled peanuts??? GGGGGAAAA-RRRROOOOOSSSSSS! Yech…

Roasted, parched and salted. That’s the way to go. Peanut butter (the non salmonella laced variety) is a staple at our house. As a kid, I would have starved to death if mom hadn’t kept a big jar of peanut butter around.

Which begs the question… does Sweetwater have a surplus of peanut butter they are foisting off on unsuspecting Newfies? :)

D

Boiled peanuts are great! . . . .

. . . for the compost pile!

 :agree:

We’d get some really good ones up in Manitoba (knowing they are a Southern thing, too – why I mentioned them in the first place). They’d boil them in the paper bag up there and sell them beside the road. You’d open the bag and eat the whole thing, shell and all, if you wanted. They were really good, not gooey at all, but I preferred them shelled. Then I got some in a can down in Mississippi and when EEEEWWWWW…ain’t the same thing.

If you'd read the instructions, they said;

Open can.
Pour out contents.
Eat CAN.

D

Hope they weren’t from Peanut Corporation of America

Well Gents:

I’m home for the day…
I am Humbled…
Big Time…
How do I begin…

I’m doing my best to wall up the tears…
The story …
I HoPe will eventually surface…

Maybe, the words will begin to come forth from me…
I sure hope they do…
AND… when they start I’ll do my best to let you know how I am feeling AND attempt to express in my best Bluenose Language from this end of the planet…

This is a tough-and-delicate matter for me to get out to all of you…

Allow me to take a break…

I never had Boiled Peanuts…
However, I’d give them a try if I had the oppertunity…

I was coming out of Florida on a trip running up I-75 …
It was in March…
and Pecans were coming into production…
It would be pretty nice to be lookin at a Georgian Pecan Pie right about now…
What a way to go…

Any of you like cashews ????

That’s another way to go…

My father had this saying…
There’s no better way to go
than to kill yourself with your teeth…
AnYWaY…

I’m gonna take a break…
I’m starved to death…

I’ll be back after I get something to eat…

I have some scanned Images and Photos I’d like to share with you
regarding this event…

Later…
O.K.
????
