USB Midi interfaces

Comments, experiences?

Folks,

I’ve just acquired another laptop. I use my old laptop for midi work and it has a Joystick port (for which I have a MIDI cable).

The new laptop only has USB so I need a USB to MIDI interface.

Any comments on the best approach? Any good ones, bad ones? Any other options I’ve not thought of?

Comments appreciated. (Money for toys is limited at the moment so I want to get it right!!!)

TIA

Mark

I use an adaptor I bought new for $25. It has MIDI in & out and USB. I won’t know the exact name or model until I get home.
I am very much a newb when it comes to MIDI, but it seems to work fine for what I do.

I will get back to you concerning the brand & model. Seems it is called a MIDIport adaptor…I will make sure.

Yep. It blends right in with the dust bunnies. That’s how little you ever have to touch the thing. It just works! Mine was about 40 bucks a few years ago…

I’ve also used a Midiman MidisportUSB 2x2 on 3 different DAWs now with zero problems.

Yep, that would be about right… 30-40 $US…

£43 UK = $76 Us (according to xe.com)
