I couldn't help but notice you had problems with "registering" Ntrack after every reboot.
Which begs the question, why reboot?
No I don't have that problem myself. I have read bunches of posts here where other people have had the problem.

I would like the stop button to respond quicker when recording/ playback to eliminate the long delay when pushed. I would like to be able to see visually on the wave file like Audacity does, when you fade in/ out and silence/ volume drop a section of audio track.
Otherwise from my limited experience this is a great multi-track recorder especially with the drum machine thats always synced to the recording plus the ability to read all the plug ins from other recording programs. Most other cheap software doesn’t seem read N track plug ins Ive found.
Hey Diogenes, just want to thank you for prompting me to have another good hard look at Reaper. It has the routing flexibility I’ve been wanting in n-Track and it has matured immensely since the beta versions. And your mention of the EDL import/export features of both software made life so wonderful for cross-tracking. So, I’ll be using both for the near future - at least until ver 6 comes out and knocks every other DAW out of the water… well, there’s always hope…

Yes, I know, that’s why I’m doing the “temporary” switch. But it is a very needed feature which I would like to help Flavio understand the importance of it - for the next version…
Ahhh… gotcha. Yes, it’s a needed feature in n-Track. Lot’s of routing improvements could be made.
We’ll see!

You guys are asking for features that are already in Ntrack 5 - maybe I miss-understand or there are easier ways in other programs - and maybe they need improving in Ntrack, but I can do these this way:
To see fades, turn on the volume envelope (the wedge shapped Icon and select volume). The reason your Stop Record button does not react more quickly is a result of the way your hard drive is set up. Turn off the computers hard drive cache in Control panel>System and the drive will complete the write-to-disk more quickly.
If you want different mixes for different players, the situation could certainly be improved but it can be done now. You will need output amps for each mix - then, send/assign the tracks to Groups in Ntrack and assign the different Groups to the Output you want. You can assign only one track to a group, so I guess it could be made easier if you want to use the same track in several of the mixes - then an Output Mixer panel in Ntrack and that would be a good idea. I have an external 8 track Mackie mixer that allows 4 seperate outs from upto 16 in, and doing that only with Ntrack I don;t think can be done. I was not aware that Reaper or other software can do that, I thought it always depended on the external mixer. But if you just want a mix for a one particulaar player it can be done with Ntrack and if you have an external mixer it work now.
Hope this helps.

Come on people! Let’s see those feature/bug fix requests for V6!
Another thread asks; “Is n-Track dead?” If WE don’t speak up and keep it kickin’… it might as well be…

It has more features now than I know how to use to be honest. I just need it as solid as a rock.
Currently, we can access one other program directly from Ntrack - the external wave editor. Would it be possible to have a Send To so that I could leave the song in Ntrack and work with the wav files in other programs and then bring it directly back to Ntrack like we do with the wave editor? I use a couple of stand alone programs to EQ and edit tracks as I am working. It would just be nice to not have to close and reopen the tracks to make these changes.
Good idea Bax. I’d like to see a “Primary Audio Editor” a “Secondary Audio Editor” plus the same things for MIDI editors.
D
I have done this before and I can never seem to remember how to fix it - I was working with the EQ and Compressor box that is on each track. I acciddently dragged the thig to full screen and I can’t get it back to proper size.
This feature and the Docking feature should be Right Click Menu items.
Here’s something I’d like to see:
Digitech has a vocal harmonizer that corrects vocal pitch in real time, and adds harmony - using your voice - up to 4 part harmony…
I think including this capability in version 6 via a VST or other add on program would be very cool - and extremely useful. In fact, it could be the best relevant add on from Flavio since the inclusion of the drum program in version 4 (of course it took version 5 to get all the glitches out of that particular add on), but it such a big step in the right direction. The drum program was a great add on and really unlocked a ton of new capability to many rank and file users like me.
Here’s the Digitech link:

On that same note, it would be so nice for Melodyne plugin to be able to work in n-Track. It crashes v 4.x and 5.x, yet it works fine in Reaper. Because of this, I’ve had to port over a number of songs to Reaper, which has taken a lot of time.
I have previously requested that n-Track improve the implementation of envelope editing, using Sony Vegas as an example of a good implementation. For further clarification, I have provided the following detailed description of that implementation.
To add a node, you right-click and select Add Node. This prevents inadvertently adding a node when clicking near an envelope line during other editing.
While hovering over or dragging a node, a ToolTip shows the timeline position and dB level. When dragging a node, the dB level changes in fractions of a dB depending on the vertical zoom level. If you hold down the control key while dragging, the dB level will change in tenths of a dB regardless of zoom level. This is very handy in making precise adjustments.
Clicking on a node selects that only node for adjustments. Clicking on the envelope line between two nodes and dragging will move the two adjacent nodes the same amount. This is very handy if you want to change the overall setting for a region of audio.
Right-clicking a node provides a menu to set the node to Maximum, Center or Minimum, or a dB number you type in. You also have options to set the Fade Type, Flip All Nodes (useful to create a mirror image envelope copied to another track), or to Remove just this node, or all nodes.
Selecting and working with nodes is rock solid. You never get that situation like in n-Track where your cursor keeps selecting a loop region instead of the node. You never have the problem where you attempt to select a node from the bottom of one track only to have it select a node from the track below.
I really hope Flavio includes a major improvement in envelope editing behavior in Version 6. And in this case the saying “Anything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas†should not apply.
For those of us that use envelopes to edit, these do indeed sound like good features. I’m not sure about editing in 10th of a Db, but if it doesn’t slow things down then Ok.
I’d suggest emailing Flavio with your idea.
Hi bax3 and vivona:
Several of the Hi-end VST plug-in makers have that “Dialogue Entry” feature written into their control buttons …
a dialogue keyboard entry adjustment for levels .etc…
The standard resolution appears to be in .1 db increments…
Flavio even uses this entry adjustment on his mixer strips and all…
It would be nice to see this become an alternate/standard way to enter levels and panning .etc on the timeline evolutions, as well…
I’d support that idea, vivona…
For me and the way I use that feature, it doesn’t appear to be resource hungry…
