volume change

when I use a volume preset icon, like fade up or fade out, the resulting sound is modified, but the waveform does not display the change. Can I make it so?

Hi, Duke.
In the upper right toolbar (5th from the left in n-T7 is a button resembling a slope and pencil. This displays drawn volume, pan, FX envelopes.

To answer the rest of your question, which I would imagine by this time you’ve figured it out, but for any newbies who might be wondering about this question, fading a track will not be reflected in the waveform itself; you have to set it up like TonyR described, but it does not visually change the waveform.
